I would take it back where you bought it and compare it to the one on display and ask questions there. They should be willing to help you out with your problem.

I'm sure I'm looking through it fine. I let my step-dad play with it and he couldn't figure it out either. I messed with it for about an hour last night. But who knows. I'll try out the other rings and then probably take it back.

FYI: I plan on hunting whitetail with it and maybe turkey. I'm just excited to get this lad to the range.

Take it back and have someone at the store bore sight it --maybe for free but for sure less than $20. I bought a Savage package rifle and took the Simmons scope off right away. You can burn up $20 in ammo trying to get on paper.

Gander Mountain and Sportsmans Warehouse do it in my area but Dick's staffing is weak.

Okay, so the I had time to check out the scope and I guess some of you were right, I wasn't holding it right. I only have about 2 in of eye relief on the scope though and I presumed I would have much more. I've never owned a scope before but now I guess I know about what to look for. I will definitely be looking for a new scope that will get the budget before I fire this bad lad. I'll let y'all see the MOA later. Thanks for the help. Getting rushed, gotta go!

I think that's the best advice in this situation where you may have something weird going on, which is not easy to diagnose.

Okay, so yesterday after a long long time of buying scopes and rings, I finally found a scope that would actually fit it. I ended up with a Simmons 3x9x40. It'll do what I need it to for next spring. I ended up going through 2 scopes and 3 sets of rings trying to find out what would fit. The rails on this thing are pretty far apart, but I got me a set solid high rise rings and I like them a lot. Enough clearance for the bolt and knuckles. The scope is actually very clear and I was surprised by that. Anyways, I thought I would give y'all a little update on it. I didn't manage to get any targets though but I got it fairly zero'd 100 yards. As per the water jugs down range. Haha. Thanks for all the help.

In case you're wondering.. I gave the scope that came with my gun to my cousin for his pellet gun. He shouldn't need too much eye relief with that gun. Hah.

Well, there is more that one way to "Shoot your eye out" with a Red Ryder BB gun...

My Simmons Blazer 3-9x50 has 3" of eye relief, and is bordering on not enough for my Mossberg ATR-100 in .30-06.

I almost joined the "Cult of the Crescent-Moon Eyebrow" when I first fired it...forgot I wasn't shooting my 10-22...

Is it possible that he has the scope on backwards?

hahahahahahahahahahahaha.
I know it is a serious remark, but the mental image has me rolling.

My guess is that your scope has about 2.5-3" of eye relief.
For 7mm mag you'll want more relief, or you can join the order of the crescent eyebrow. 3" is to short on my mauser for people of small stature, shooting from the bench.
