    Odd Annealing Question

This is about the cheapest device you'll run into to test the hardness of brass case necks ... thus their annealed state. You might find a cheaper Chinese knockoff of this tool, I've never looked.

Gun powder. It's a beautiful sight to see.

Oh man, look at all of the Dot's and the bottles of Reloder-26 ... which we will probably never see again.

= Verified with PV/Alliant customer service = Alliant to suspend canister powders significantly - Time for comparable powder substitutions again

The VV stuff at my local Sportsman's is N133, N140, N150, and N320. A pretty narrow range. I expect they were limiting VV based on price in the past ... they probably couldn't move it as easily. Now, of course, it's in line if not cheaper than the others. I've only really been using VV for...

As noted in the listings, Green Dot and N320 are close. For me, in 45LC, they are within a tenth of a grain in performance with heavy bullets (280 - 300), but my barrel is only 3-1/2" which is going to limit the difference. I've wondered if this substitution breaks down / shows a larger...

    Beware of Vihtavuori Load Data.

You're right ... the Lee is probably a better match for the volume occupied by the shank. I get a bit less pressure with the Lee. Probably best to measure the shank length from the position of the crimp and the bullet OAL.

    Beware of Vihtavuori Load Data.

I ran 4.1gr of N340 at your OAL and got 12Kpsi and 710fps.

45 Colt Loads With Vihtavuori Powders.

I shoot a good bit of VV powders in various cartridges but those loads make my wrist sore just looking at the velocities.

    Beware of Vihtavuori Load Data.

When I run it in QL @ 5gr of N340 ... I get 17.7Kpsi and 840fps. I'm using the Hornady 158gr LSWC (#10408) as a stand in for your bullet. I set the COAL to 1.47" and the barrel to 3.6" ... assuming you have a 1.6" cylinder. Using a bullet with the crimp groove in just a slightly different...

Where are Reloading Components Available/On Sale (Not a Discussion Thread, Link Required)

That's probably my fault. I hit them pretty hard yesterday at $35/lb. They probably went online and looked at what was up for powder prices.

I left a good bit. It was hard to walk away from those 8-lb jugs of AR-Comp. I've got a few pounds of it already but I only shoot it in 450 Alaskan along with 3031. So I'm pretty low volume on that stuff. It's just the right burn speed for my 20" barrel.

I'm out. I suffered a moment of weakness today and drove to Micanopy, FL. to Harry Beckwith Guns based on a @GeoDudeFlorida post in the deals thread. 4lbs of Bullseye, 4lbs of Unique, and another pound of Power Pistol ... all for $35/lb. Why he's still got them marked with prices from 3 years...

I know ... I burned the last of my Norma R123 about 10 years ago in the Hornet and I'm still not over it. I wish this cannister powder business was more stable. I hope someone (named Hodgdon) picks up the Bofors stuff and brings it over here.

45 Colt Loads With Vihtavuori Powders.

Nice. I think you missed the FPS in the third row. I love me some VV powders ... super clean. I loaded up on N105 before they quit importing it but I've not run it in my 45 Colt yet.
