I posted last week about "taking a chance" on a GB auction and I picked it up today. Better cosmetic condition than expected and it had the trigger return issue(not returning) the seller was honest about. He also had stated when he took the gun in the action was locked up/frozen. I adjusted the trigger overtravel set screw on the rear of the trigger a little at a time until it reset consistently. Then I tried SA again and the gun was locked up and trigger wouldn't release the hammer. The overtravel adjustment was not allowing the trigger to move back far enough to release the hammer. I put a spare trigger I had in and now it works perfectly DA & SA and trigger returns every time. That plus cleaning took about an hour. Looks pretty good for 45+ years old... 20240509_144029.jpg 20240509_143939.jpg

Two FFLs jumped in the bidding late and drove it up to $605 so with one minute left I bid $610 and won. i wouldn't have bid any higher. After fees, taxes & shipping $681.43. One of the FFLs bidding had an identical DW 15-2 with the same 8VH barrel on GB for a "buy now" price of $999. He probably planned to flip my gun and dropped out when it got too high to make much profit. I should completely strip this gun down and do a deep cleaning. The action feels pretty gritty right now. Been sitting somewhere since the seventies.

Hopefully, you won't have about 100 dead baby spiders inside, like the gun in my avatar had in the magazine. I would imagine they were imported from Israel as was the gun itself. I bet you're going to flush a load of gunk out of it. Most all my used DW revolvers had a ton of crud in them, but the firing pin area always had gunk in it, so make sure you hit it good with whatever you clean it with.

The price you paid wasn't bad at this point in time. Since the trigger swap fixed it, I wonder if a "pork chop" trigger was in it when you got it. It was like 45 years ago, and I think there was a used 15-2 I was looking at buying that had some lockup issue that turned out to be something like the wrong trigger being in it. I passed on it, but it soon was gone after the gunsmith got it working. I had 4 15-2's at the time (like Jan of '82), and only kept two of them when I moved back to Ohio a few months later.

DW looks so CLASSY

Looks great!

Too bad the sharks circled and drove up the cost for it last-minute. I think my complete 15-2 frame (sans grips and barrel/shroud) ran me $250 bucks about 6 years ago.

Nice to see it has a happy home now!!

Stay safe.

$250! wow.. inflation really sucks

That was with no barrel, shroud or grip. If it was complete I am sure it would have touched $500 at that time. 🤔

My entire 4-barrel 15-2 Pistol Pak ran me a but over $800 back in the mid-1990’s when I bought it, it was one of my first online gun buys. 😇

No one really seemed to want a .357 DW much back then.

Stay safe.

I don't have it anymore, but one of the first 15-2's I had was a frame only sitting in the case at a pawn shop in Vegas about 1980. It was cheap enough back then to just impulse buy. It was barely fired and my not used much 6" VH barrel and shroud went on it as soon as I got home. That was probably my prettiest 15-2 of all of them, but one of the ones I have now is pretty close. You rarely see DW revolvers around here. 1911's are like ants, every LGS seems to have at least one model. 1911's are "dead to me", so I don't even think about buying one.

I bought my first DW15-2 w/V6 barrel @2016 for $500 OTD. Then bought V4 & 2.5" barrels. About 2018 I bought another nice frame for $500 justifying it because I already had barrels for it. Now this one. It's a vicious circle.

EWK used to be a source for reasonably priced barrels/shrouds. Based on posts I have seen over the years, I believe that isn’t the case anymore.

This 3” VH is an EWK.

When I bought my 6” V .22 Monson revolver, I found a 4” VH barrel/shroud on the CZ-DW website and bought it. I can’t recall the price off the top of my head, but it wasn’t stupid expensive. Those, too are no longer available. :(

(I thought I had a pic of both, just found one of the gun.)

Dan Wesson revolvers are overpriced crap!

I wouldn't own this one if I wasn't forced to:

I hope I am never forced to own a similar DW 715 set!

I am glad nobody makes top quality barrels and shrouds using the original DW tooling! you know, like CZ... https://shop.cz-usa.com/dw-products/revolver/barrels-shrouds.html?product_list_limit=all

Those CZ barrels I own are so crooked that I often shoot myself in the ass.

I bought a 2.5" & 4" from CZ/USA. 4" pictured post#12. Bought an original V4 with box from GB and an 8VH on ebay.
