Aimpoint Issue?

I noticed my Aimpoint CompM2 has started behaving oddly. It seems like it is blooming pretty good at high settings, and when you look at it from the front you can see a red glow from the tube. The dot seems fine at lower settings, and I usually don't run it at full brightness, so I'm not sure when this happened. The dot itself looks like a starburst, and there is a red "halo" around the outside of the lens. From the front you can see a faint red glow, and at the right angle it looks like you can actually see the light source (possibly an illusion).

I don't THINK it was this way before, though I confess that I don't usually run it at full strength, and I also don't normally look at it from the "business" end, or run it at night, so it may be normal and I just never noticed it. It's an older sight on my "beater" rifle, so it's not like it gets used all that much.

Any idea what broke, and how hard it would be to fix? Also, any idea if it would affect function, besides the blooming at high settings? I didn't check how well it tracked, because it is currently zeroed and I didn't want to mess with it at the time. Also, AFAIK, the rifle/optic has not been dropped, kicked, battered, whatever, and .223 isn't a whomping caliber...none of the usual causes of optic problems seem to apply.

it's normal to see the "light source" from outside and front of the scope. That's why aimpoint sells those lens filter so the baddies won't see the glows at night (like you really need one).

On the other issue , not sure. My aimpoint looks like a cluster due to my eye problems at night, but even running on full it looks just fine in daylight

Are you referring to Killflash ARD? If so, mine has it, and the light is still visible. I've used CompM3s and M4s at night before, and I didn't notice the front signature as much as I do on my M2. This may just be because the newer models are better at reducing it. It's visible under room light conditions, though, which struck me as odd. And, thinking back on it, I may never have used this sight in low light before.
