I think a smart idea would be for you to keep a handgun on your person when you are out-of-doors. Make sure its in a decent calber, 9mm/.38spl or higher, but not so heavy that you would be tempted not to take it with you. In a rural setting with lots of open areas, an AR would be ideal. A shotgun would not be an optimal choice, but not a particularly bad one either.

Remote location, target identification and acquisition require adequate lighting.
Close defense will be served with a shotgun. Semi or pump is based on you preference, but a semi will shoot both faster and with less recoil.
A rifle is needed to return incoming hostile fire from positions of cover, if yoyr bogie was behind a car door in your lane.
Obviously a pistol to carry on your belt all the time, as suprises happen at a moment's notice.

Geeze, S&T is supposed to be a serious forum for a serious discussion. What do you intend to do, hire a native gun bearer to carry all this hardware around for you while you go through your daily routine? Maybe pull it behind you in golf bag .

Take things back to reality people or this thread is done...........

Accessibility to both an AR 10 type rifle and a semi auto 12 guage shotgun is prudent for home defense.
Carrying a Glock 20 in a belt holster doesn't merit a golf bag.

And with that, this thread is done! Carguy, before you post anything in S&T again I would suggest you read the sticky thread at the top of the page and all of the links inside that thread, you'll find your time here to be much more productive that way.
