there are alot of things that i like about this pistol. i like that they are usin a manual safety though i wouldn't use it, there aren't many striker guns out there that have manual safeties and there are lots of folks that would appreciate that. i also like the light rail, the thiness. 3 dot sights. i am sure that it is built like a tank since it is a ruger and i know from experience that ruger takes care of the customer. it is striker fired, interchangable backstrap. 17+1 9mm sounds good to me. i also like teh grip texture it is shaped and checkered like the p345 and that is an aspect i love about mine.

is it anything that is really crazy new and inovative, no but they will be a great value. i know that rugers are fine firearms, and they can be had for a nice price point. i am defiently gona check them out later.

Nope. They said the magazine is all new.

I personally think this is a step in the right direction for Ruger. I will buy one just because.

My dislikes, the magazine disconnect, chamber loaded indicator, and the ambi safety. I don't mind an ambi safety if its one you remove and flip around, but not on both sides at the same time.

My likes, 17+1, slim frame and slide, supposedly feels like a 1911A1, flipping the back strap makes it supposedly feel like a 1911, and the lack of grip texture for the thumb (don't ask me why). The locked back slide take down is a great idea. Not that taking down a pistol has ever made me feel put out, but its a nice little move on their part.

...and for the record, its not as ugly as the Sigma.

The mags look a little different. If they aren't I'll be kicking myself for selling my PC9 this past weekend. Just from a cursory look it appears as if the hole where the mag release catches the mag is in a totally different place. The floor plate angle is also much different. Wouldnt affect the PC9 but I bet it would prevent them from being used in P89/95's.

OK, What am I going to sell to you fine fellows to finance my next Ruger purchase? Hmmm...........

Just from looking at this gun it appears to have a pretty low bore axis. Lower than any other Ruger I've ever seen.

This market segment -- plastic, uh, sorry, polymer frame, striker fired, short-stroke DAO trigger -- is very "hot" right now, and Ruger wants a piece of it. One can hardly blame them.

plus they are offering the manual safety that many folks would like to have on a striker gun but the market dosen't have to many of those.

I find the modular frame disassembly to be relatively innovative as well. Maybe there are guns out there that I'm unfamiliar with that already have that feature, but it seemed pretty neat to me.

Wow. Finally, a striker-fired plastic framed pistol I could actually like. It's a Ruger pistol so reliability is a given. I like the safety on it. Very un-Ruger to have a centerfire pistol without a decocker in the slide. I'm also curious when the .45 is going to be released.

I'm actually gonna have to get this thing. And I'm happy it's not a compact as some have been saying.

If they can fit 17 rounds of 9mm in that slim frame how many rounds of .45? Could Ruger's next unveiling be a .45 with a higher than 10 capacity mag? Or higher than 8 which is their current limit?

I'm agreeing with you there, though I was one who was kinda hoping for a single stack 9mm design from them. Now that I've seen this I'm glad they went this way. I'm gonna have to find something to part with soon I think. I may wait six months or so just to see the initial bugs. All pistols seem to have them. By then maybe I can scratch together the scratch to not have to part with anything too.

I may have to get the Glock instead of this new one. It looks almost exactly like what I was looking for except the magazine disconnect.

Maybe I can clean the rear sight like you can on the 345 and this will disable the magazine disconnect......hummmmmmm
