Would it make any sense to do this?

Neither of these companies offer Savage drop in barrels. But there are plenty of aftermarket smiths making drop in barrels using these blanks, and those from others.

Scope Height vs. Cheek Weld ?

Yes, too much cheek pressure is problematic for benchrest shooters also, and will typically pitch shots high and inside, and as bad, push the rifle inside, off target, which wastes more time resetting the rifle for the next shot. I only addressed PRS and ELR as an extension of the answer our...

Scope Height vs. Cheek Weld ?

PRS shooters and ELR shooters generally also just “kiss” the stock with the cheek. One of the most commonly heard errors ELR coaches point at is “too much cheek in the rifle.”

Help me understand... a 10lb rifle 'worth' it's weight in gold?

By most standards, I’m a “have,” I’ll pay whatever I feel like paying when something I want comes up. Dozens of my investors in multimillion and billion dollar projects I have lead over the last couple decades do the same. I could buy a million dollar rifle tomorrow, all it would do is change...

    9mm subsonic.

I'm not trying to throw any wrinkles in the mix here, and I'm not even saying a guy should try to chase this particular rabbit, because doing so really doesn't get anybody fed, BUT, to make rounds really as quiet as possible (besides keeping the breech sealed as long as possible to also keep...

Would it make any sense to do this?

You bought the Savage 12 F-class, right? Unless something has changed - and it could have, since I don't follow Savage as closely as I once did - all of the "Competition Models" are on the Savage 12 LRP single shot action, which is a short action length. But that won't really matter, because...

Just how has that company (implied LabRadar) been in the past?

    Odd Annealing Question

OP stated welding rod........ But welding wire, while thin enough, isn't really stiff enough either, which is why more of us use picks or paperclips...

StaBall HD 143 grain ELDX 6.5x284 Norma questions

I haven't personally shot any of the Staball HD, and maybe they learned something as they developed Staball Match which they embedded into HD (which is assuming they fixed something in Staball Match which was broken in Staball 6.5), but overall, I think Staball HD is just a slower powder in the...

Would it make any sense to do this?

I was trying to formulate the right way of saying this, without sounding confusing: First - if you burn out a barrel, you'll have deserved to burn it out, because you'll have been USING IT! But beyond that, if you stick on a custom aftermarket barrel now, you'll likely find the performance...

StaBall HD 143 grain ELDX 6.5x284 Norma questions

For what you're wanting to do with that rifle, a ball powder - even an advance ball powder - wouldn't be my first choice. Under the heavy bullets I expect you'll be shooting, H1000 and Retumbo are the two I would look at first, H4350 on the faster side.

    Odd Annealing Question

Welding rod would be a bit coarse to find what we're looking for inside cases. Most folks use finer tip feelers - dental picks or bent paperclips. You're feeling for a groove, which indicates you have incipient case head separations - case failures - coming in your future. These are a STRONG...

Looked at the New Ruger American II YUCK!

It's the same barreled action, with a different stock and a new safety. No different than Savage offering the 12 VLP-DBM vs. the 110 Elite Precision vs. 112 Magnum Target and 116 Bear Hunter and 12 Benchrest (which is actually a different action than the others, but shares the same name), or...

    = $95 = Viridian Serac 6-24x50 (30mm tube) - Natchez Tax Refund Sale

Ah hell… I should have paid closer attention - it even says “Arken Optics” right on the side of the scope, front and center in your photo. Dunno how I missed it!

    = $95 = Viridian Serac 6-24x50 (30mm tube) - Natchez Tax Refund Sale

Hmm... So maybe what I found was incorrect, but I saw specs online that said this thing has 55moa of elevation. But for a 30moa rail with a 100yrd zero to have 19.5mils left, that would have to be ~110moa total, not 55moa.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
