Here's another one that came out of gun jail this week.
An RHKP surplus S&W 10-7.
The RHKP carried M10's for a few decades before they were worn enough that they decided to order replacements. Once the replacement M10's arrived the RHKP decided nah, we are going to use Glocks. So the majority of the new M10's were shipped back after sitting unused for 10 years or so, along with some of their used M10's. They were returned through the distributor so no import stamps, and were then sold to the US market.
RHKP M10's can be found in all conditions from like new to heavily worn. They can be identified through their unique lanyard, the only M10 from -7 on to have a factory lanyard installed, and through the engraved rack and branch engraving on the backstrap.
RHKP will be engraved with the RHKP and a rack number through 13,000 or so,
Hong Kong customs and excise guns will be engraved C&E.
This is a customs and excise gun, hence the C&E.
Approximately 13,000 guns were returned, so they are not rare or valuable, but they are very cool.

This particular one I suspect might be unfired, as it was bone dry inside and no carbon wiped off during cleaning.

Those are great revolvers. I had occasion to examine a bunch of them when they started returning to the states -- many had been barely shot -- there were many with holster wear, but it was almost as though the issuing agencies didn't require their personnel to even qualify on the revolvers.

I love a Model 10! I wonder if they send these off because of china take over off HK?

That's a nice find! This gun is a real slice of history, and it sounds like you’ve got one in mint condition if it’s as pristine as you say.

@silicosys4 Thank you for that history lesson. I didn’t know why I could get a brand new looking model 10 (except for the grips).
I always assumed my gun just sat in an armory and when sent back someone swapped the grip panels.
I tried several times to email Hong Kong C&E to find out info on my gun in particular. After several emails I got one back that said “Cannot tell you anything. Don’t know.” And that was it.

In 2016 I bought this gem. This shot was taken in 2018 but it shows the grip panels fairly clearly. This C&E model 10-7 cost me $600 at Cabela’s. It was a high price but I wanted it. The gun itself looked brand new. The grip panels didn’t. Not sure if someone swapped them or if crappy grip panels from S&W went on export guns.

This is one gun I will never part with. It shoots wonderfully. It’s the perfect size to carry about when fishing, hiking or hunting and it just looks darn cool! 😎
In 2019 I decided my swan needed some of the “ugly duckling” removed and I bought these service panels from Altamont. I also bought a modern version of a 1943 Tanker / Aviator holster for it. It’s the perfect holster for this revolver when I carry it.

Holster from Amazon. $40

I have other revolvers that I love as well, but I think this will someday be my last revolver. The one I shoot for fun when I am old and gray. I’m 63 now so that won’t be for 30 or 40 years. 😆

Do they sell these HK M10 now? I love a Model 10 and I need this is my collection

$1300 plus tax $130 + transfer $50 + tyrant fee $18 = $1498 WOW
That's pretty steep, I didn't pay anything near that.
The market still seems to see these as just another model 10.

They were originally surplused off for $250.
Read this 20 year old thread about values for an idea of how dirt cheap M10's were back then. Guys swearing they won't pay over $125 for a used gun.

They were that cheap! times have changed, my last 3 Model 10 were $650 - ish.

There were several of these on GB just a few weeks ago. All from the same seller. I kept bidding but got outbid. They sold for a lot less than that Frugate arms price. I had a RHKP many years ago that was pretty beat up and was missing the lanyard. I paid $200 for it. And sold it after a bit. I wish I still had it. I really want another skinny barrel model 10. Perfect house and holster guns. A model 15 has been my house gun for 30 years. I never saw any reason to change. Those are the best versions of a model 10.

My telepathy is not working. I am assuming that means “Hong Kong Model 10”, correct?

I bought mine using the Cabela’s Gun Library search. At that time pre 2018 (Pre Bass Pro ruination) you could have any gun at Cabela’s stores across the U.S. sent to your local Cabela’s for a $25 fee. If you bought it the $25 went towards your purchase. If not you were out $25. I bought my Model 10 C&E that way as well as a Ruger Vaquero original . 45 Colt in Stainless with a 7.5” barrel.
The prices were high but the quality was darn good. Cabela’s had a pretty good system for rating and photographing their guns.
Here is my Ruger Vaquero with new shoes.

I was at a gun show recently and saw a Hong Kong PD model 10 that looked like it was dropped a lot. A lady asked me if I would like to see it. It was in a case. I asked her to flip the tag over to show the price. $1000! 🙀
I said “No thanks. Too much money.”
That’s when a guy, I assume her husband, stepped over and started telling me I didn’t know what I was talking about. As he went through his sales pitch I pulled up my photos of my model 10 C&E and with out saying a word I just faced the phone towards him displaying one of my photos. He stopped talking mid sentence.
I said “No disrespect meant but if that Hong Kong gun looked like mine I would buy it for a $1000. For that one you have right there…$500.”
He made a funny noise and walked away.
This is the photo I showed him.

I looked on GB in the advanced search and only found one of the HK model 10s still in the sold listings. That gun sold for $510 and came in a blue S&W box and looked like new money. I wish I had of bid a little harder. I don't see anymore being listed.

Is it worth an engraved N frame you only paid $1000 for?
Asking for a friend.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I won a random lot of boxes from various mfg's right after I won the auction for the 10-7. Completely different sellers and the label wasn't visable when I bid, but included in the boxes was this one...

Yup, a box for a RHKP S&W M10. Its not the same serial number, mine is an AYH prefix, but I'll take it!
I'm kind of curious about the boxes, from what I've read all of the surplus M10's were sold by one distributor, and it appears that they used whatever S&W boxes they could get, and slapped their own label over S&W's. Compare the above box with another RHKP M10 box from a GB auction.
