30-30 loads.

Well I have never seen a 30-30 sniper rifle so my way of thinking is great brush gun for less than 100 YDS. Around here a 30-30 or 12 GA with 00 Buck work equally well as most shots are between 30 and 50 YDS. I don't hunt up in the northern part of the state where they have fields that are many acres large. I hunt around old homesteads that are long gone and the associated small fields that are reverting back into forest.

So I was wondering when it comes to the 30-30, does the microgroove rifling reduce accuracy? If shooting cast do you have to increase velocity to keep barrel from leading or no difference at all?

I don't feel MG rifling is a detriment to accuracy, even when shooting cast. Circling back to my previous post... a cast bullet MUST fit the bore properly... if it's undersized, you will get terrible accuracy... and I'm talking .001" difference. Like most cast rifle bullets, if you drive them over 1800fps, it's best to use a gas check... in my experience. I've driven non-GC cast bullets to 2000fps without problems, but that was in my .308 Savage 99, which seems to have a magical barrel or something.

From my Winchester 94, my best load so far is with my 31141 and 30.0 grains W748. I load 32.0 most of the time though because it reproduces factory ballistics and trajectory, and is almost as accurate.

31 gr. of IMR 3031 under a Speer 150 fp. is my favorite load, but I couldn't find any when I loaded some for my son recently, so I used AA2230. I can't remember the amount offhand, but I got the data in a Reloader's Annual from a few years ago.
Looks like I need to get another box of bullets. I just sorted through some of the brass from work, ended up with almost enough .30-30 brass to need a 100 count box.

Savage 99 barrels used to be made in the weapon shops of Isher. 🤣
