Bargain Gun Series: CZ P-10F

Well, I just returned from the range and I can attest to one big thing about the P-10F: it’s a HONEY!

Now, I already had high expectations for this pistol based on the reports of others. Admittedly I put only 100 or so rounds downrange but some observations are readily apparent.

The magazines are smooth and easy to load.

The pistol is a natural pointer in my hands and the front sight comes up quickly (no RDS yet).

Even with the small backstrap in place, my trigger finger is perfectly positioned on the trigger for smooth, repeatable squeeze.

With the first few shots, I could tell that the gun was sighted from the factory for a combat hold (not surprisingly, it’s a combat gun). Windage was perfect but I had to cover the bullseye with the front dot.

First magazine all went into 3” at 25 yards offhand, so it’s accurate.

The recoil impulse is quite possibly the softest polymer framed 9mm I have ever shot. It just ka-chunks, ka-chunks away with minimal disturbance to the front sight, making fast and accurate hits absolutely easy.

It was completely reliable with bulk Federal Champion 115 grain ammo (kind of anemic - avg velocity was 1119 fps).

Moving to the steel 1/2 size silhouette at 50 yards, again the gun performed with no fuss. I LOVE to be able to pick up a new gun and hit that plate 90% of the time, rapid fire. It’s just so satisfying.

So the verdict? I really couldn’t be happier. That a $400 gun can perform at this level is just amazing to me. Ideally I’d like to take a little weight off the trigger so the extended length firing pin and 4.4lb striker spring should be helpful in achieving that (parts coming today). I’d like a slightly slimmer front sight and a blacked-out rear so it may be that a set of Dawson Precision sights are in order. Dot? I don’t know. Holosun makes the SCS for a direct mount to the slide for this, like I have on my Glocks and Walther PDP. I might get one, or just stick with irons for now.

But, man, this pistol really needs nothing to be a high-performing, accurate, reliable 9mm. It does everything really, really well.

I have a plate coming tomorrow for my spare (and FDE) Leupold Delta Point Pro; I’m not using it, so why not throw it on there? The Holosun SCS-P10 is unobtanium right now. I also have an Overwatch trigger and striker coming tomorrow too, as well as the HBI reduced striker springs. I am hoping for a 3.5 lb crisp pull. We’ll see!

In case you don't know, the P10 and S2 plates are different.
Yes, you can use either plate on either pistol as the footprint is the same but they are different.
The top of the S2 slide is narrower, so the top of the plate is narrower than the p10.
The S2 plate has a hole in it for the extractor pin and the upper right corner is radiused.

I ran a P10 plate on my S2 for awhile, it works it just looks like dog breath.

Thanks Chevelle! I think this plate is specific to the P10 but not sure, we’ll see. I’m ok as long as it’s functional and sturdy.

Picked up a P-10 C, Police edition (It’s night sights, and a 3rd magazine) Fantastic pistols, was well worth the $400! Congrats on the full size😎

Got the HB trigger and reduced power striker springs, the Overwatch trigger and striker, a reduced power recoil spring and ss guide rod from CGW, and the optic plate for my spare Leupold DPP. Lots of parts to play with tomorrow!

I decided to install the Overwatch trigger instead of the HB based on a slight preference for trigger feel. Both triggers have a flat face but the Overwatch just feels a little better contoured. Oddly, I didn’t find the paired striker to improve the trigger pull. Having tried several combinations and permutations, I’ve decided that the Overwatch trigger, CGW striker and 3lb HB striker spring offers the crispest wall and reset. Now the trigger *rivals* the Walther PDP at 3.5lbs and has a positive tactile and audible reset. I also put my spare FDE Deltapoint Pro on there so I could start running it with a dot. Funny, I don’t remember the DPP being so honking BIG. But, it’s here, the glass is large and bright, and the dot is distinct (although it can wash out in bright sunlight more easily than other dots. The CGW guide rod and 14.5lb spring feel pretty stock but the cycling might be a mite bit smoother.

Mulling over getting the brass backstrap to give it a little more weight down low. I like that effect on the Walther.

Swapped the Deltapoint Pro Mack truck of an optic for an RMR 3.25; much better! Did some more polishing of the engagement surfaces with Mother’s and a Dremel and it’s smoooooth now. Sprinco recoil reduction guide rod and springs are on the way. Just a fantastic firearm. The trigger now feels like the Timney in my Glock 17.5 but I trust the P10 trigger a lot more.
