Ww748
In 1981, I got a pound of WW748 for a song at a gun store that getting out of the reloading business. I loaded 500 rounds of .223 with 60 grain Hornaday soft point bullets on top of 25 grains of powder with CCI primers that I shot through my Mini-14. All of the ones I shot worked flawlessly. This was back in the day when I was too poor to have a chronograph, so I don't know how fast they were, but the place I could shoot at the time was a fixed 200 meters and they would hit anything I shot at. I think I may still have some leftovers from that batch in a closet somewhere.
In the long run (after I got a chronograph), I settled on IMR4198 for .223 going through my Mini-14 since 20 grains of it with those same 60 grain Hornaday bullets would get 2900 feet per second with good accuracy and a pound would load 350 rounds (versus 280 rounds for the WW748).
