What is the last gun that you bought?

Glock G40 10mm.

I had been buying and loading for several service sized pistols, chasing horsepower for no real reason. This one scratched the itch. It's been 6 months or so on the wagon now. If I live long enough, it will come back of course. That is why I've scouted out Rowland and .45 Super options.

A nice '94 Sig P228, all-matching. This was bought mostly as a back-up for the brand-new retail Sig M11 (which has FTExtract issues with brass ammo); the 228 will also be kept as a collector. My suspicions about the Sig M11 A1 now seem justified.

If my brand-new Sig M11 A1 had Not experienced 7 FTExtracts total in 1,050 rds., 4 in the 650 rds. before going to the Sig factory, and 3 FTEs in the 300 rds. since it Came Back from the Sig factory, I might not have bought the classic P228 as Insurance while the new gun was up in in Essex NH (they changed the extractor spring/polished ramp). The gun was cleaned/lubed after every FTE event, and I'm fed up with spending $300 of my money on ammo to test a $900 Sig. When is the testing supposed to be complete when this issue doesn't go away?

***Today on the phone, the (really young) Sig Tech Rep. said to try another 500 rds., possibly Sig ammo. That's just another $130 down the hole, in addition to $300 I've already spent on ammo for a brand-new gun.***

No More Brand-New, 100% US-Made Sig for me, ever again. I might consider another Sig after this classic 228, if it is 100% German components And assembly, as with this P228, which has the two-letter code designating 1994.

The 228 will make a very nice collector gun.

I can't believe that I am adding to this thread again so soon.

Found a pretty nice Stoeger Condor 20 ga O/U in the used rack at the local toy store. I was looking for a 20 ga upland gun, and it looks like this will fit that role.

Time for an update from me, also.... My last post in this thread was #9644 on 6 / 2 / 2017 and since then ( August) I've picked up a mint, lightly used IMG_1982.JPG Rascal 2-28-18.JPG Browning 525 Citori 12 ga. for a dedicated sporting clays gun. Then in Dec. a local retailer had .22 cal. Savage Rascals on sale coupled with a $50. rebate from Savage and I couldn't resist because I was looking for something my 6 yr. old step grand-daughter could try this coming summer. I love the Citori and I'm even getting fond of the Rascal; having had it out twice to check zero (it's got a nice aperture rear sight adjustable for windage & elevation) and it's a darn good shooter ( also has an Accutrigger) . I must look silly shooting that tiny thing but hey; us adults have to check these things out first, before the kids have all the fun. LOL.

Since the last time I posted... CZ 527 in .204 Ruger, and T/C Icon Classic in .30-'06. Now I'm eyeing a consignment AR15 in 6.5 grendel since the guns bans, they are a-comin....

Beretta APX. Beretta is offering 5 free mags with the purchase of an APX. The place iAmmo.com is having a special on the APX(3rd mags and another grip frame) for $449. Pic below.

A CZ75 Compact.

Sold today (via Armslist) my malfunctioning new retail Sig M11 A1 (P 229 deriv.) today, drove directly to a shop with the "like new" Compact.

Never expected a new retail, US-made Sig to have a FTExtract issue, even After the gun went back to the factory.....

100% "W.G." Sig P228 and "German" P225: both manufactured, assembled in Eckernforde, then proofed in nearby Kiel. Picked up both guns today in Jackson and Cordova TN.
Built like tanks.

The date codes, proof marks etc are stamped on the muzzle 'chin', and both guns are all-matching. Sold several guns, heaps of ammo, drove several hours making deals happen, to raise the cash to buy these.

You can go krazy after you retire, especially after a heart attack ("Widowmaker artery" was blocked)-luckily with no heart damage....

Last weekend gun show. Bought one, traded for two, came home with three, count 'em, three rifles. All three 1903 Springfield actions. All with replacement stocks, nice wood and well fit. All three with new barrels (I think). One in .30-06 Springfield (but the barrel is finished and blued, so I think it's rebarreled). One in .45-70 Government. Yup. .45-70. The third is - wait for it - .458 Winchester Magnum.

Haven't shot them yet. Need to consider sights and need to finish processing the brass. (.45-70 brass seems a touch long; a rather tight chamber.) Part of the enjoyment to me.

Probably not going to load the .458 up to maximum soon. May want a couple elephant stoppers just in case.
