Alright, we are off to a great start....but we need more pictures!!!! :D

Well, hopefully I'll be able to join in a few weeks. Got my eyes on a Pocket police at Dixie Gun Works. My funds are just a little bit too low to get it right now.

BTW, the big brother to my 1862 in the above pic is my 1860 ASM, which is at Goon's right now...can't wait! The Pocket Police goes next, maybe with the extra 3.5" bbl, so Mike can tune up both barrels to the arbor for quick swapping!

Unfortunately my 1863 Pocket Police was stolen. However, it was a brass frame anyways. I am keeping my eyes on gun.deals, looking for a sale on a steel frame replacement. I also check gunbroker on a regular basis; but there they are typically listed for far more than I can get them for from conventional vendors, like Cabala's or Dixie Gun Works. As I write this I see that Dixie has a sale going on. If it is still at that price at the end of the month I may think harder (I had to replace my stupid phone this month, there went my "gun budget").

Of the Black-Powder revolvers I have, or had, the 1862 Pocket Police was definitely my favorite.

(Oh, and part of the reason that I tend to clutter my posts with links is twofold. Firstly, it makes it easier for people to know what I am talking about. Secondly, and more important to me, is that it allows me quickly to find those places again. I do thank the Mod's for allowing links.)

I'll join the club but only for a bit. Maybe the next owner will join. Don't put me on the club list. Photo is for display.

It is a Replica Arms El Paso Texas gun (made by ASM in 1963) 1848 Pocket squareback .31 5-shot 6" with load lever, date code XIX. It has the correct short frame, correct V-notch load aperture, and the correct short frame forcing cone, and the load lever/rammer pivot screw enters from the right.

Bought it at a GB auction years ago, paid too much for it, took it apart and cleaned up years worth of crud, and found the bolt/trigger spring has no tension, so it basically does not work, and replacement parts are not available to my knowledge. A good metal worker could most likely re-temper the spring. It is way too small for my long fingers so I have decided to give it away to one of two guys on this forum that are interested, and they know who they are. I am giving it away so as to pay it forward to guys (or gals) who have an interest in repairing such guns, and maybe they might do so in the future.

I am probably not the only guy who bought a pig in a poke.

I am an 1851 Navy .36 type guy, but I was a sucker for the squareback TG on this Pocket.

Sigh.

Good luck with the new club. I know there is a lot of interest in Colt Pockets.

Jim

I think you should set the rule 36 cal and below.

I have a couple 44 Sheriff's but those really don't count.

Hmm, I know whacha mean but I would consider a .44 Avenging Angel to be a pocket revolver but agree that a Sherrif's model would not really fit the bill. I have a .44 caliber 1860 Sheriff and a 1858 Sherrif and agree not to consider them as "pocket revolvers".

That's might nice of you....Would you rather name the recipient and we can add their name to the list now?

I cannot do that at this time because I am not sure who the recipient will be. When it happens I will apprise, probably mid-April or so. Just awaiting on the go-ahead from the first guy, and if he declines, the next guy will get it.

I have it sitting next to me in a mailing box and will include a few more goodies to go with it that I have no further use for.

Part of it is snakes on the grips 1851 Navy: Man With No Name. Only fits Pietta pre-2015 pistols. Put it together as a whim. Sometimes I have nothing better to do in my old age.

You guys enjoy the day. We here in SW WA are expecting heavy rain and winds up to 70 mph tonight and tomorrow. Got the genset ready and are battening down the hatches.

Jim
