Depends on distance and situation I guess. I did once kill a large coyote @ 75 yards wth a 12 Ga 3 1/2" with '0' buckshot, but it didn't fall immediately dead like they usually do when I hit 'em with my .223 Rem.

Deadlier no. So he’s stretching.
But his point is exactly right. My classroom was shot up with a 12Ga
The only reason I’m alive is because I did resist. I didn’t cower under a desk, instead I started the gunman and a security guard was able to grab him because of it.

As far as the left what isn’t said is that the number are now calling for outlawing all guns is growing, and they aren’t hiding it anymore.

Wow. I'm sorry for your ordeal. So many school shootings. I seen on the news a while back the anniversary of a school shooting and all the kids that showed up for the protest were anti gun. The future of our country. One young man stood alone and spoke to the camera as an NRA member while "boo's" could be heard in the back. Just disheartening.

3 1/2" magnum 00 buck in 12 ga has 18 pellets, not "over 30". No matter how many times he says 30 in the video.

Even if there were 30 pellets in a 3.5" magnum 00 buck round, it wouldn't be like "30 people shooting" because all of the pellets go in more or less the same direction. In an unusual situation, it's possible that several people could be injured by a single shotgun blast but 30 people shooting would be much more deadly.

There is no denying that a 12gauge can be an effective tool within its range. But then, in the hands of a skilled operator so can be lowly .410.
My uncle used to have a rather pithy saying that the speed of conversion of an aggressive man to a passive man was directly proportional to the size of the hole in the end of the barrel. By that criteria the 12gauge would be the ultimate in civilian hands.

However, I would not care to be on the receiving end had my grandfather ever picked up his "obsolete" M1 Garand should he be motivated to commit violence. Likewise one of dad's former employees with his top break British revolver with the ring in the butt. Or for that matter our "retiree" who even in his advanced years is able to put a 22 bullet through squirrel's eye at fifty meters with a slide action Remington whose better days ended about the time of Herbert Hoover.

In all things, from weapon systems, to earthmovers, to tractors or automobiles, the tools are only as effective as a person controlling it. Which all boils down to another rather pithy saying – it ain't the machine, it's the operator. Expanding on that, good or ill does not reside within the object at hand but within the human heart.

The attitude is horrible
I was actually treated like a villain because I didn’t cower under a desk and die.
I made multiple attempts to lead an effort to share what I learned but instead I didn’t have my teaching contract renewed.

The worst part wasn’t the shooting, but the attacks afterwards. One peer started a rumor that I was illegally carrying because she was anti gun and now anti Constitution not just ant 2nd Amendment but 100 percent trash the Constitution.

These people are extremely dangerous as they aren’t rationale and they’ll lie and do whatever to forward their agenda. Sadly we act like we can reason with them and think they’ll try to be civil. Instead what we get is the brainwashing of our kids and the ruining of anyone who isn’t for what they want.

What you experienced in the field of education is why we homeschooled our children. Millions do. State sponsored education was originally a group effort to educate the poor, subverted to establish a continuing indoctrination for socialism.

As for the voices of the anti gunners, they aren't so much becoming more numerous in comparison to their total percentages, they are just given more voice by the media who is also part of the problem. There are now only 6 media corporations who own ALL the networks and newspapers, and one foreign owner has a controlling interest in every one. He also owned the top floors of the Mandalay.

His activities are under intense scrutiny by authorities in his country and how he spends his money inciting insurrection in the Mid East has also been stopped.

Things are actually looking up. It's going to take awhile, there is a major reset in politics looming, with an impact far beyond what some are prepared to understand or accept. Ignoring it will only do more damage, not smooth the transition.

However, as far as "shotgun vs AR15" - you have to ask, is the latest interest in Mossberg Shockwave type guns because they are "cooler" than AR pistols? Or do slug rounds over 250 gr have more power from a 14" barrel vs a 70 gr from a 10.5"?

I believe ballistics offers the answer, and when you look at the numbers, taking into account BOTH guns are not long range hunting guns but intended for close range self defense, the shotgun has it hands down. I don't think it's exaggerating to say double the foot pounds of force.

Short range shotgun ammo development is ongoing and we are likely to see some significant improvements in the near future. The next SHOT show will likely have some and it will be interesting to sort thru which are based on marketing hype and which are performers.

One of the reasons I tune out antigunners is because they get their facts wrong so often. It makes them look duplicitous, stupid or both. When Uncle Ted does the same thing concerning the number of pellets it has the same effect.

I agree with most of this
When I started teaching K-12 was a mess put post secondary (aka college) wasn’t so bad. In 10 years I watched it become worse than high school. Free thought is gone. And there is very much a herd mentality. Worse the politics are worse than anything I saw in DC. Of course that was also before the current political changes.

As for the percentages. The percentages may be the same, but the antis are much bolder now. They’re becoming much more hostile and dangerous. Frankly I now only share my interest in shooting with family and those I know are friendly to our side. In other words until I know someone isn’t a far left anti gunner I’m not letting them know. Now if they show any sort of brain activity that indicates a willingnesss to have mature conversations, I’ll have a discussion and make points about our history, about gun safety and why people are passionate about the shooting sports and our 2nd Amendment Rights.

Great replies everyone. I didn't actually pay much thought to the 30 pellet statement, but you guys are right. I can only get abt 18 or 21 '0' Buck in my 3 1/2" loads depending on the wad and type of powder I use. I do think uncle Ted stretches it a bit, but he's all good will for the 2nd Amendment. I've only seen him in concert in the early 80's helluva good time...

It would be better if he didn’t stretch things. And it would also help if Alex Jones were calmer. But they are what they are.

Frankly I’ve always thought both were a little out there. Alex though I think it’s his style to get attention. Ted I think is a little bit nuts. But he’s one of us and he annoys the left so I’ll take his insanity and stretching things anytime.

Btw, many years ago, before I became a hard core 2nd Amendment advocate, I appreciated his approach to hunting and donating the meat to the poor. I’ve respected his outspokenness even when I’ve disagreed with him, so a few details being out of line I don’t see as an issue, as the left will pick apart anything he says anyway.

Handgun and rifle bullets are highly refined after many years of development and testing both in lab and in the field. Shotgun ammunition, on the other hand, has not been subject to the same level R&D. The shotshells we use today are not much different than the ones we used 30 years ago. Sure there has been a change from lead shot for waterfowl but lead is by far the most popular choice for everything else.

With the gun bans taking place in some States it will be interesting to see how much shotguns and shotshells can be refined. The Shockwave to me seems more a niche than for practical use. It has real issues with the excessive recoil and barrel flip. Developing a system that redirects or uses the gas to reduce the muzzle flip would seem to be a money maker especially in those States.

No proof, just opinion, less than adequate logic. In short, nothing but propaganda, which is sad, really.
Exactly, one would think he would be more knowledgeable about what he uses. I am all for a shotgun for HD, but it is what it is and he is pretty full of it. He is mostly practicing fear mongering against the shotgun at this point. "OHH look how destructive it is!"

At classroom distance pattern would be 6-10" at most. You might be able to get two people peripherally, and possibly someone behind them if the buck passes through, so at most I would say 3 people per shot, X 5 shots if you were an optimist 15 casualties. Now if you were shooting out over a crowd like Vegas, you very well might get 18 separate hits per shell. Rifle rounds of say a .223 may very well punch through 2+ people per round if using FMJ's maybe, with precision hits.

I have nothing against Alex Jones, but he is about hype and on the fringe. Teddy should get all his facts straight before making any statements about guns and shooting otherwise it just hurts the 2A cause.

At least the shotgun is Joe Biden approved. But only if you shoot it up in the air.

Well I mean, just one time. Everyone knows that the single shell left in your SxS is all a homeowner will ever need, right?;)

He is mostly annoying, occasionally hilarious. I have to give him credit for making a bunch of money off the lunatic fringe.
Ted is a life long entertainer and he is playing to the Alex Jones audience.
The moral of the video is, in a mass shooting, the gun is not at fault. Banning this one or that one or restricting capacity, types of ammo, etc. are just stepping stones toward eliminating the RTKBA.

Exactly. I had a similar thought watching the video. If Mr Nugent thinks one 12g is "as deadly" as being shot at by 30 people, I would invite him to stand 100 yards downrange from an infantry platoon with his shotgun. It would not even be close to a fair fight. I fully understand what he meant to illustrate in the video, the anti gunners commonly held ignorance about all things firearms. But he could have done it in a much better way. And on a much better stage. Infowars is about as far from rational thought as a person could hope to get without being sized for straight jackets.
