Favorite .22LR automatic rifle that's not a 10/22?

I have owned a Ruger 10/22 and a Remington Nylon 66. The Ruger was more accurate. Cost of both being equal I would choose the 66. I saw a 66 at Cabela's this past Tuesday and the cost of the two is far from being equal.

A shop fairly near me has a Mossberg 351C, for $165. Nice Monte Carlo stocks on those if photos on the intertubes can be trusted. Know anything else about those? Maybe I can get them to come down a few bucks on the price using the threat of I-1639.

They sure are....one is a belly button, and just as common. The other has hit collector status. They are some old guns, and really I toss out how accurate they are right out the window unless I had it from day one. doG only knows how the thing was taken care of.

True story....this was back in the late 80's early 90's....out shooting in a dry creek bed....all kinds of stuff not just rimfire. We go back to my buddies house and he starts to clean his rifle while we watch TV and general bs about the stuff we shot. He pops out a 110v drill chucks up a cleaning rod and with some #9 down the rifles nose goes after it....it was one of those things that make you just go......ahh dude, that is not good. Oh the brass on the brush is softer then the steel...it will not hurt it.....really....nylon is softer then metal and I have seen groves worn in fishing poles before....

No wonder he had issues hitting things far down the creek.

Besides the Browning SA-22, I also really like the CZ 512. The CZ's have a reputation for being exceptionally accurate for an auto-loading 22.

I have a sentimental attachment for the Model 60. After having owned one for almost 40 years I can attest that they are very serviceable rifles, especially those with the one piece feed throat... But, it sounds like you already have a model 60 and haven't had much luck with it so those are probably not a very attractive option for you...

I also like several of the old click-clack rifles because of their unique design and ability to function as both a semi auto with 22 LR and a repeating bolt action with shorts and longs. I like the old Remington 550 with it's "floating chamber" and it's unique ability to fire shorts, longs and long rifles as a semi-auto... Most of these older out of production 22's probably aren't the best option though as many will be hard to find or in need or work.

The TC looks like an interesting rifle but I don't have any first hand experience with it and it's also out of production.

So, if the 10/22 isn't an option, besides the Browning SA-22, I'd also recommend the CZ-512.

If I could not have a 10/22 then my choice would be the Browning SA-22, preferably Belgian even though the Japanese guns are nice. But, if I could not have a semi-auto, then my number one choice would be a Marlin 39A. In fact, even though I have a number of .22 rifles, my preferences, regardless of action type, are:

1) 10/22
2. 39A
3. SA-22

All of my 60's are old, some with no SN just month and date letters. I do want to get a newer SS version.

I would second the choice of a few different caliber of uppers for an m4. A marlin 60 is also a valuable commodity. Maybe even time to get a Garand.

I really enjoy my Savage MK2 with the KISS suppressor. Also my brown nylon 66, which mostly just hangs in the man cave.

I've toyed with the idea of a Garand in the past, but I still haven't worked up much interest. In WWII, my dad was a Navy signalman and his older brother was a Navy pilot, so I never even knew anyone who had a serious relationship with the rifle.

I am toying with the idea of trying a Nylon 66 barrel on a GR8 The Brazilian Nylon 66 has a metal trigger instead of plastic and just feels better....but does not shoot better

Among the stuff around the house if the 10/22s evaporated I would like my little click clack which I have dropped in the adult stock from a year later in the production line

But given "Favorite .22LR automatic rifle that's not a 10/22?" it does not say "that you currently own" and that makes it hard Sister's Speedmaster is neat, but I am going to have to side with the Browning SA 22 crowd even though as an old three position guy I do tend to get my left arm far enough under to catch an occasional hot case on the tender inside of my elbow. Supressed they are very quiet as well

I think the most fun I had with a .22 though was an HK conversion unit in a G3 rifle, but can't see owning one.

Well there’s always the crown jewel of .22s with a full auto American!

I would also point out there are a lot of great 9mm semi autos from the HK to the Scorpion.

the absolute best 22 auto every made is a h and k 270. as accurate as a 540 rem bolt gun. had a trigger that tripped and wacked the sear. not a typical sear hammer deal. rifling was not our deal but not sure what the correct name for it was.
…. cheap back in 80s when you could get a hk91 93 etc. the 300 was a 22 mag. dc
