D2DF6A80-0287-4485-89AA-CC48E5A10E50.jpeg The end of the year is just around the corner, so it’s time to start looking back at what we have picked up this year. I have been fortunate to score 4 straight purchases while on a fairly tight budget, and make a trade or two to change things up a bit. All of this after a score of a Marlin 62 late in 2017 that became part of my Christmas, so I am claiming it as a 2018 aquisition too.

The buys...
Marlin 62, short throw lever action 30carbine. $100
Colt New Line 22, a junker that likely will not come back to life unless I make a new frame for it. But it’s still cool. $38.26 total.
Rock Island m14y 22lr, a neat little wood stocked bolt rifle with threaded barrel and a 10shot detachable box mag. It’s mine, but it’s for my girls. Total right at $160.
Smith 10-6. Ugly, but amazing at the same time. It’s getting a racegun makeover for Christmas. Including a sight rail and holosight. It will get a shot of alumahyde or some similar gun paint to ease the ugly. $250 out the door
Butler 22short Derringer. Unfired, pretty, neat toy. $95 out the door.

Trades have been more sparse than most years. The big trade was an AR pistol for a Taurus m327 and a mountain of ammo. The Taurus has no grips in the photo, new grips are wrapped and under the tree, and old grips are on their way to a user on another forum.

To top it all off I bought a LCT and a couple more sets of dies so now I am loading everything all rifle rounds that I shoot, and all pistol rounds except .380 and I intend to buy those dies soon just to have the whole rifle and pistol sides of the safe eating home cooking. That just leaves plastic, which brings me to the Ponsness Warren 20ga loader that was sent to me by @LoonWulf that I cleaned up and got working again. If I run across a deal on a 12 ga loader I’m jumping there too.

I have been blessed in many ways. Looking back, looks like I’m more blessed than I realized, and this is just in the gun world. In the grand scheme of life I am thoroughly blessed far beyond what I deserve. How has your year been? Photos are appreciated.

Bought a bunch of stuff since Washington State went blue and enacted new gun laws. I won't be buying anything else while I live in this state, so got my wish list taken care of along with some fun things.

1. Palmetto State Armory AR-15 lower and AR-Stoner upper in .450 Bushmaster.
2. PSA AR-10 lower, no idea what upper I'll get.
3. Taurus G2c 9mm. It was $199. Had to try it.
4. S&W M&P40c
5. Glock G19 Gen 5 MOS
6. Ruger 10/22 Copper Mica Edition.

Unfortunately, I could not afford to also add another short-barreled six-gun, or a 1911, or another 10mm.

Too many to count, 20 or so, that's what a new job will do to you.

Off the top of my head:

Arsenal AK in 7.62x39
M70 AK
PTR-91
Winchester 1894 1953 Production
Mossberg 800AM in 308
American Western Arms SAA in 44-40
Pedersoli Lightning Replica in 45 Colt
Pedersoli High Wall in 45 Colt
Romanian M44
Finnish VKT Mosin
Marlin 1894 in 32-20
French 1777 Flintlock Pistol Replica
Winchester 97 in 12 ga 1926 Production I believe
Couple of Mossberg 500s
Maverick 88
Mossberg 185k bolt action shotgun
J.C. Higgins bolt action shotgun
Sportirized Yugo M48
Mosin 91/30

None. I've acquired none more gun stuffs this year.

Thank you for bringing up such a painful subject. While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it.

:D

Okay, maybe I did. I acquired a new gun/reloading room. And the house attached to it.

But no guns, :( which is really weird for me.

Hi...
Bought a few guns in the last year or so...
A custom Sako L57 in .308 with a Schultz& Larsen barrel
A Interarms Mark X Mannlicher stocked 7x57Mauser
A Thompson Contender in .45Colt
And my son and I built an AR15 in .223Wylde for me
I bought several Vortex and Leupold scopes this year and a huge amonut of reloading equipment at auctions including several presses

Acquired three more this year and sold one for a net gain of two; so I'm not being successful in thinning out the gun collection in my retirement. Oh well........ Back in March I bought my buddies Weatherby Vanguard in .257 Weatherby with a Bell & Carlson stock and put a 4-16x Nikon Monarch on it. Then in July the LGS got in a few Ruger PC Carbines and I couldn't resist getting one. In October the local Runnings home, farm & outdoor store had the base model Henry .22 lever guns on sale and after examining and fondling it; I bought it on the spot. Gonna now have to sell a couple safe queens to make room for the new arrivals...... IMG_2693.JPG IMG_2041.JPG IMG_1893 (2).JPG

I've actually gotten rid of more than I've acquired this year, saying goodbye to a couple .45s a .357 and a .300 win mag.

Acquiring a second child in 2018 will do that :)

I did manage to sneak a Glock 19X and a Sig P226 Legion in under the radar though. Early 2019 I should also be able to add an AR10 .308 of some sort, still debating on which.

Early in the year I bought a Beretta CX4 in 9mm when things were looking up.

Sadly things aren't looking so good and of the small number of guns that I own, something might have to go to make it

2018 was a horse trading year for me. I sold or traded off one handgun (a T/C Encore with multiple barrels) and six rifles and replaced the guns one-for-one with new-to-me rifles. So I broke even.

I don't anticipate much additional turnover in 2019. My efforts this year were to get the stable where I want it. I still have a trued 700 action in the safe waiting for me to decide what to build on it, and one more rifle to sell after the holidays. But my time and energy this coming year will be directed toward building loads for the rifles I have and making time to shoot them a lot more.

No worries. Its the tough times that make us appreciate the good times.
