... how do you carry your ammo?

I have a couple of Blackhawk cheek rests with ammo pouches that I have used on bolt action rifles to raise my cheek weld and on H&R Handi Rifles primarily to keep ammo handy. They work fine, but they are inelegant and to my eye look out of place on a classy Ruger No. 1. Easy enough to carry a couple of spare cartridges in a jacket pocket, of course, but I'm wondering what others have found handy.

Pictures welcome.

I use a rather nice lace on leather and suede butt cuff with ammo slots on a Ruger No 3 in 30-40. Load one, hold two in right hand between middle and ring and ring and pinky fingers by the rims. Works fine, keeps two ready to go. I'v shot two hogs and a whitetail that way. Having them in the actual slots of the ammo carrier is awkward, so a belt slide, or easy access jacket pocket is just as good. Getting comfy with one or two extras in your shooting hand is harder.

I'm going to use a fanny pack to carry powder and bullets for muzzleloader.

I can't tell you how well it works because my first muzzleloader hunt is coming up later this month.

Since at the moment all I hunt with is a .22, I use an old squeeze coin purse on a cord I found around the house. Holds about ten and I can prop a couple in the opening. Not fancy, but works okay for me. IMG_20190110_195958.jpg
Edited to add: I also have a leather loop attachment that holds eighteen rounds, but the coin purse is quicker for me.

I use an inexpensive nylon buffcuff on my Ruger No. 1 in .270 Win. Should probably upgrade to something in leather since the sling is so nice, but I haven't gotten around to it.

It works though.

When I hunted with my Ruger No1 RSI, I carries extra rounds in those old (1980s) orange plastic ammo holders that came with the ammo. Carried in the pocket, no noise and readily available.

I always had extra ammo for my single shots in a nylon butt cuff. if I thought I was ready to take multiple shots at game, I would slip a couple shells in between my fingers on my hand holding the forearm of my rifle.

My H&R Handi's have elastic ammo sleeves. I think the rifle sleeves hold 9rds. I am an admitted minimalist when it comes to hunting and scouting, and I have never lacked for ammo. 9 rds has always been sufficient for hunting.
My rifle case holds a box of ammo in an exterior pocket, but in the field, I rely on the 9rd sleeve.

A shotgun belt and 15ml centrifuge tubes make carrying bullets, primers, and pre-weighted/measured charges easy. Makes for quick reloading also.

Or if you use speedloaders the belt can carry them nicely as well.

When hunting with single shot rifles or shotguns I carried loose rounds, or rounds in Federal carriers, in my pocket and as previously suggested two or three rounds held between the fingers of my right hand.

I just stuff them in my coat pocket or pants pocket if no coat needed. not much slower that all the gagits and they never fall out. 45-70 ruger #3 in 45-70.
