We're in the process of putting together a self defense class for the women in our church. As part of that we'd like to be able to refer any women interested in purchasing/carrying a gun to a quality trainer. These would most likely be new shooters. There's no shortage of trainers here, but none that I know and feel comfortable referring people to. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good trainer.

TD Roe of Excel training. Her and her partner, Bill Zeller, are top of the heap.

I do DT training, and have taught women's SD before, if you need help along those lines.

if they are new shooters, you might want to see if you can get them a Women On Target course first. It is a big jump from being completely unfamiliar with firearms to self defense use.

Thanks for the information and the offer to help. It's exactly what I was looking for.

I shoot at Maxon Shooter's Supply in Des Plaines, which is a very well run gun shop and indoor range. I personally have not taken their safety and training classes, but judging from the professionalism and courtesy of the staff I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Thanks. I've been there a few times and it is a great range. I didn't know they had those classes, especially the Well Armed Woman class.
