Best and worst bulk 22LR

I just bought 1600 rounds of Federal "Black" bulk ammo; great stuff; I suspect it is the same as their American Eagle, but can't say for sure. Stuff works in every .22 rifle and pistol I have.

You have to be careful when buying Agiluila. Both varieties carry the name Super Extra which sounds like high velocity. But the standard velocity variety carries that name too. It sounds like it is high velocity. I think the true high velocity is the red label. The blue label is the standard. Beware.

CCI is my favorite, it’s fed reliably in my rifle and pistol: the pistol is sort of cranky, and when I had a P22 cci was the only thing that would feed.

I also like Remington golden bullet. Maybe not quite as good as cci but reliable enough for a good time at the range. When I hunt with the rifle and carry the pistol (while hunting) it’s with CCI.

Automatch is hit or miss for me, and a lot of brands work with my 10/22 but not the .22 pistols I’ve had.

I try to avoid bulk Winchester .22 and super x, and federal game shok. They feed in the 10/22 but never in the pistol.

Aguila HV works well in both my handguns and rifles, only problem is when using it in my sw victory it shoots burning powder into my right hand, that kinda stings

CCI Mini-mags is the best I have found that works very well in my Colt Woodsman and my three .22 rifles.

I haven't found any that were really bad. They all go bang, just not as accurately as Mini-mags.

Same experience using an older Marlin 60. Pretty much everything feeds and fires. Maube some are not driving tacks, but all can hit cans.

Worst: Magtech

Second Worst: Remington Thunderbolt

Best: RWS Target Rifle

In the past I would have said CCI Mini mag or CCI standard or Eley Sport.

But I have had issues with all three of those recently, so the best option for me is RWS Target Rifle. I shoot suppressed most of the time, and this ammo works great with my 3 rifles and 13 cans.

I find that the Aguila HV seems to shoot really well in my gun for bulk plinking ammo.

Same here, best value as well.

Worst. Remington Thunderbolt.
Worst: Remington Thunderbolt total crap.

WHAT!
I love it for an Uzi .22 conversion. It has always been reliable and sure fire for me. Better function than CCI MMs or Aguila.
Lots of smoke too. I've had people ask me if the rounds were black powder, true story.
I don't use it in any other guns however as it does seem a bit dirty.

Don't really know whats best but over the last 20-25 years I've pretty much settled on CCI Blazer as an all around, general purpose thing for all my .22's. Can't recall any duds and my guns all seem to like it good enough although some high priced target ammo may be a bit more accurate. It's been so long since I had any bulk 22lr which I was unhappy with that I've forgotten what it was; should have put that in my notes instead of my memory.

A lot of people are saying CCI mini mags but those aren’t bulk pack, or at least I haven’t seen them. The only way I’ve ever seen mini mags are in 100 count plastic boxes.

I haven’t bought any Remington Thunderbolt in a long time so I can’t commen, but my opinion of the Golden Bullet bulk pack is that it’s complete garbage. One guy at my range had a box that was around 10% duds: complete failure to fire after multiple strikes.

If you expand the definition of “bulk pack” to conventional boxed bricks then I am becoming fond of the CCI Blaser. I may end up standardizing on them and CCI standard velocity for all my shooting.

The Eley bulk pack that CMP is selling is pretty good, but CCI standard velocity is actually better according to my rifles and is quite a bit cheaper as well.

CCI Blazer has always been tops for me
I have really good luck with it as well. Might be the best of the "bulk" "cheap" stuff.

Auguila standard and HV shoots well, but not as well as the Blazer. Blazer shoots well to great in my three pistols and three rifles.

Automatch has been very good for me, except in my S&W M-41 since shoots poor groups with it, but the Trailside and Buckmark love it. Shoots very well in my .22 LR AR as well.

CCI is easily the best, but it's a little more expensive than what I'd call "bulk" ammo.
I've found Aquila to be a very close second.
Rem Golden bullets are one of my favorites too.

Remington Thunderbolts are prettty hit or miss, I avoid them.
Same with Federal Auto-Match, that stuff is unreliable and wildly inaccurate in most of my .22's.

Everything else seems to fall about in the middle.

Blazer . Ive gotten it at about $17 a brick, and seen (but missed :( ) it at 12 and change after rebate. Sure woulda liked to stock up some bricks at that price!

Best: CCI
Worst: Winchester, remington and Federal bulk packs.
I only buy CCI now.
