I have a A5 Light 12 and wanted to see if anyone has information and price on it because I'm wanting to sell.

Serial number: 16427

Barrel Serial does not match the reciever.

Thats about all I know about it. Any help would be very appreciated.

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum!

If there are no letters preceeding or following the serial number, then all that can be said with certainty is that it is pre-ww2 as the production records were lost in the war.

Condition looks very nice. Around here that Auto-5 would be priced around $600 at a gunshop.

Technically, the "A-5" is Browning's current semiauto shotgun which looks a bit like a classic Auto-5, but is totally different internally.

Thank you for your response. No, there are no letters before the serial number. From what I have found that serial number says it was made in 1905. Just figured it was worth a pretty good amount for being that old. If 600 is the going price I think I'll just hold onto it. Thank you again!

Good choice, they are sweet shooters. The mechanism absorbs alot of recoil, and the friction rings can be adjusted for fine tuning to different loads. Just dont overtighten the forend cap, the wood is quite thin and can be damaged this way. The cap has a spring loaded detent, just snug it up, then back it off one click.

with a replaced barrel and poly choke and may have been refinished, the price goes down hill for a collector. how ever a hunter may want it. I don,t think its a 1906 made A-5.

The cross bolt safety dates that gun from 1951 at the earliest. The non-radiused corners of the ejection port shows that it is pre-1958. Look again for a letter prefix. An “L” makes it from 1954, a “G” from 1956.

Serial numbers were left off barrels beginning in 1953, so the number you’re looking at is something else. It’s probably the original barrel, but the Poly Choke decreases value. The gun looks to be in good shape, I’d say $500-$600.

Thank you alot for that valuable information. I see the G now hiding up above the serial number. So 1956. That helps me out alot.
