I'm about ready to reassemble the US Revolver .32 I inherited from an uncle some 50 years ago, and since it's of black powder vintage I'll be loading my own.

I haven't found a suitable bullet that's not already lubed with some smokeless concoction, so here's my question for you:

What mould should I use? (Preferably Lee or something else inexpensive... I don't plan on a lot of casting/shooting.) The barrel mics to .315-.316 inch, and I probably shouldn't go over about 90 gr.

I used to shoot the Berrys plated 83 Gr HBWC, but they haven't made any for a number of years now.

So I tried some coated 98 Gr WCs from MBC and they shoot well from .32 Long or Mag brass.

Work up very slow.

You can always just use the 60 Gr XTP intended for .32 auto, or the 85 Gr XTP intended for revolvers. Pricey though.

Do you mean they are coated with a polymer coating?

There are plain, traditionally lubed 32 bullets available, usually sized .313 if that would work for you.

Try the first one. Screenshot_20190312-135456.png
I have about same in a rcbs mold.
Also have the swc one but it's probably not great for holding bp lube with micro grooves.

I use the third one with great accuracy at 25 yds, the .314 (TL314-90 SWC) in my SP101 with liquid Alox cut 50% with slow mineral spirits.
In your barrel, I have no idea how it would work but it is a flat based bullet and caused me no leading at all with my load.
The barrel mics to .315-.316 inch,
How did you mic your barrel, lands or grooves?

For 32 short I wouldn’t go any higher than the 85 gr bullets that are out there. It just eats up case volume too quickly. I would seriously consider trailboss though as it should be easier to clean and less corrosive than black.

For what it’s worth, no roundnose bullet has shot worth a hoot for me in any of the 32 flavors I have had from short all the way up to 327. I would look at truncated cones.

That's good to know. Thanks for that.
I'll stick to the SWC 90gr flat based bullet from my Lee mold, that are really accurate but that doesn't help the Col. I shoot them out of .327FM brass.
I have no experience with 32 short.

I’ve had splendid results from the Lyman .311252. Casts to 78gr and approximately.314”. I size to .311” for most applications.

But, I prefer my Lee .312” 90gr RN because it’s a 6-cavity mold...
Powder coated(Harbor Freight, Tumble method) and sized .311”, they are even more accurate than Sierra JSP through my .30Carbine.

Shoots “good enough”... at .314” through a couple of ancient S&W Hand-Ejectors.
