What kind of guns do the bad guys carry?

Thanks, that was eye opening, having lived a protected life from crime I didn't know how that non law abiding people obtained firearms,

Gunny - in that picture of your two coworkers, the man on the right in the Ford shirt is holding that gun in his right hand. If I read your subsequent posts correctly, that is an AR "pistol" (pretty damn big for that!) with a 100 round magazine, correct? And that would be in 5.5.6/.223 caliber?

The guy on the right in the Ford shirt has a Mini DRACO in 7.62x39 with a 50 round drum in his right hand. In his left is an AR pistol in 5.56. It has a 16 inch barreled upper on it, which puts it over 27 inches.

There was a law that said if firearms were involved that the penalty was increased, does that apply in this cercumstance? ...
How are all these firearms getting into the hands of thugs and felons?
A lot of them are obtained through straw purchasers. They will have a girlfriend buy their guns are pay someone they know that doesn’t have a criminal record buy them.

Pointing to the same DOJ report as above, and adding up "bought by someone else" and "purchased for prisoner" alone you get around 15%. However it is probably a LOT higher than that because the 43% that are "street" guns include as a source "groups involved in drug trade" which would seem to line up with this perfectly (your fellow gang member has a girlfriend with no record...).

The Netflix series DOPE had a "gun dealer" for gangsters that had a pretty impressive stockpile that he said he largely got from a straw purchaser in Indiana, IIRC.

It was on whichever episode featured Chicago

Here are two of my buddies from another Dept. with three guns taken from a drug dealer on a drug bust.

Kinda reawakens the point of looking at body armor again doesn't it? I don't do illegal drugs and never plan on it. But a rifle bullet goes a long, long way.

That is case of the mass shooting in February, 2016, in Newton and Hesston, Kansas.

What is worse about the case is the punishment the girlfriend that provided him with the guns received.

The shooter, Cedric Larry Ford, was prohibited from owning firearms due to his criminal history including being on probation from Florida at the time of the shooting.

His ex-girlfriend brought him the Zastava AK-47-style semi-automatic rifle and a Glock .40-caliber handgun used in the shootings. She was charged in Federal Court for providing a firearm to a convicted felon facing up to 10 years in prison but was only given one year of supervised probation after pleading guilty to one count of not alerting authorities that a convicted felon unlawfully possessed firearms.

Being as how more violent crime comes in impoverished areas, you’d think they would keep the Raven, Lorcin, Jennings, and Hipoint and sell the more valuable guns. Thus more of these would show up as the perpetrators of violent crime. I also know some states have Saturday night special laws that prohibit certain guns by their metallurgy. So this may be the reason fewer are showing up.

I very rarely see these brands for sale in most gun stores. Certainly don’t hear them in songs or movies. Given most criminals’ guns are stolen or straw purchased, it makes sense.

Plus, they use their guns a lot... dont want some garbage if you’re robbing a dope dealer that you know keeps an AK under his couch.

That's the problem. They won't engage the teeth of the laws already in place, wanting instead to impose more onerous restrictions on the law abiding. The lunatics are truly running the asylum.

To answer original question it varies depending to where one is worldwide. If I had to bet I would place Chinese made 9x19 version of Tokarev on top.
To adress your point feces will hit the fan in the "asylum" when the leaders will attempt to save Social Security by raising taxes significantly. Naturally this will occur at last possible moment as the ruled might actually take to the streets.

There is one carrying a nice Colt Detective Special that was stolen from me in a burglary several years ago.
