Does anyone still use bolt action shotguns?

They were issued to Indian Troops of the British Empire, serving within India.Useful as anti-riot guns. Didn't want the help having real rifles at home, where they might turn them on the British.

This might be a dumb Q but can it also shoot 45 LC like the Judge revolver?

Can you tell us a little more about this weapon? (ie what was intended for, when & where it was used, etc.) It's very interesting.

They were re-worked No1mk3's from .303 to something like .410 and made into single-shot by riveting in a floor plate at the mag well. At some point later, probably around when they were imported, they were re-reamed out to handle modern .410 shells. Some only take 2.5" shells; mine takes 3" as well.

I bought it cheap because the hand guard was cracked badly and wire rapped. While replacing that, I figured I might as well add volley sights... and then I ground out the rivets on the floor plate and experienced nothing but frustration with an enfield magazine before using a mag for a Saiga 410.

It shoots 410 slugs about 2 feet above point of aim at 100yards.

Off topic, I had that cracked stock set laying around for a year or two before I used it to make my Smelly 10/22 stock set. It's essentially a duffel cut, and doweled, under the band.

Some of the Mossberg shotguns had C-lect choke. Others had choke tubes.

Ever see a model 98 Mauser converted to shotgun? The Remo and Geha branded shotguns were made by German arms companies after World War I. I recently sold a 20 gauge Geha shotgun.

These bolt action shotguns were popular in the 30s, 40s and 50s:

Anyone who has even been to a gun show has seen one, at least up here. They are ubiquitous to the gun show experience, like jerky and the guy with crappy knives for $5-$50.

Do they still allow the Marlin 10 Gauge Goose Gun for hunting? (36" Plus barrel)
Those things are/were about one step down from an anti-aircraft gun......

I got to shoot a friend's .410 Mossberg bolt last year. It was a lot of fun. Happy to see there is still a lot of love for bolt shotguns out there.

I have one made by Mossberg, 20 ga. 3" chamber. Bought by dad at a yard sale years ago for $40. Its never been used for any serious hunting, but it has rolled around in a truck and killed some random critters of opportunity like possums, rattlers, etc.
