The reason it's so inconsistent is that they have minions who know very little about guns, and as such, they look at a video, and as soon as they find something they think meets the demonetizing criteria, they hit the "NO" switch and move on.
For example, the policy covers "firearms" but by legal, Federal as well as State definitions, muzzle loaders, especially flintlocks, are "antique firearms" which is a totally different category under the law. WE know this but the minions don't.
YouTube also is pulling a "fast one" since they don't "ban" nor "remove" those videos, so their numbers of "viewers" don't drop, and so can continue to claim high consumer exposure to advertisers who pay YouTube. SO the only recourse would be for you to "pull" all the old videos that have been reclassified, and any others that are part of a series if some are reclassified and others are not, and either offer them in a packaged download for a fee, or put them on a DVD.
