YouTube is driving me crazy

Mike,
The reason it's so inconsistent is that they have minions who know very little about guns, and as such, they look at a video, and as soon as they find something they think meets the demonetizing criteria, they hit the "NO" switch and move on.

For example, the policy covers "firearms" but by legal, Federal as well as State definitions, muzzle loaders, especially flintlocks, are "antique firearms" which is a totally different category under the law. WE know this but the minions don't.

YouTube also is pulling a "fast one" since they don't "ban" nor "remove" those videos, so their numbers of "viewers" don't drop, and so can continue to claim high consumer exposure to advertisers who pay YouTube. SO the only recourse would be for you to "pull" all the old videos that have been reclassified, and any others that are part of a series if some are reclassified and others are not, and either offer them in a packaged download for a fee, or put them on a DVD.

Mike, if you find a better platform...please post a link because I will sure follow you wherever you choose to share your great videos.

The problem with finding another platform is that other platforms offer little or no real income, which is what a lot of the YouTubers are upset about, demonetization. Take Full30, for example, most of the guys with established Full30 channels are essentially making, or were making most their money from YouTube, first. Full30 was largely built off the teet of YouTube in terms of their creators. Early on, there was very little original Full30 content that didn't first appear on YouTube. Of course, Full30 doesn't allow just anybody to get a channel, either.

Yep. I posted a video on YouTube of one of my hunts and it got age-restricted on the first day. That is a kiss of death where the video is not promoted. The video had a glitch in it from editing and so I deleted the video, fixed the glitch (which was an audio problem) and reposted it a few days later and it is living a happy, healthy life and getting views and getting promoted. The actual content of the video did not change except for the removal of some background static.

That may be a solution for you as well Duelist1954. Take everything down and repost it as new work with a disclaimer at the beginning of each stating that the video does not contain "Firearms" just replica antiques. Maybe even explain the difference in relation to YT policy so the next time a reviewer looks at one, he/she will at least have the correct information upon which to make their decision.

Just insanity. Like people intent on doing harm are going to build a flintlock and try to commit crimes with it.
Yeah, but you can't have channels that could possibly show how to put a bump stock on a flintlock.
That kind of stupidity boggles the mind.
Every time I think I've encountered the zenith (nadir?) of stupidity someone says "Hold my beer".
Love your videos friend. You're a big part of the reason I want to get into cap and ball revolvers.
Please keep it up, as frustrating as this is.
Sure, blame it on him!....
In all seriousness, the videos by so many people (Hickock45, Ian, even Matt at the Ranch) provide good information to people in a common sense, straightforward way. It's time consuming and costly for the equipment to make and edit quality videos, the folks need some kind of remuneration to offset those things. Demonetizing them is just unfair and arbitrary.
Make a policy that is clear and fair and then administer it equally across the board.
