A few years ago I put together an 8.5" 300 Blk. AR pistol using PSA upper. It was my first AR pistol and has been my favorite all time AR ever since. Light, quick, fun to shoot. I had no particular reason for the 8.5" length except PSA had one on sale at the time. But I'm very happy with it.
I was also pleasantly surprised to learn the velocity loss was less than 10% loss over a 16" 300Blk Carbine, according to my chrono, using 125 gr. bullets.
So now I'm going to do a 5.56 AR pistol, maybe two, and I'm wondering if there is a preferred barrel length - most seem to run 8.5" or 10.5", and I'm fine with either. Normally 55 gr. and 62 gr, and maybe some 70-80 gr. bullets. Does anyone if there is one better than the other?
Thanks,
