finally got around to tuning my bulldog. I want to use it tomorrow to harvest a pig up at my landlords place.

i finished polishing the internals, and porting the transfer port and valve a while ago, but didnt have a tall enough scope mount so never finished tuning my rifle. Now that my Midas didnt have a rifle and ive got a tall 30mm mount i can finish my project.

Today i finished installing an increased power hammer spring and tuneing the rifle for a 3 shot string.

with 147gr rebated boattail lead bullets its deliver an average velocity of about 858fps with a spread of 20fps between the three shots (861,867,846). it burns about 600psi to achieve that. Im pressurizing to 3100psi to force the slight bell curve while maintaining the high fps ratings.

Ive also ported the shroud with fine holes, progressing to larger, from about half way back on the bottom, to 3" infront of the receiver. coupled with the Pitbull Mega, the sound signiture is fairly low considering how much energy this thing delivers. its still kinda loud to the shooter, but from 10ft away Its not bad at all.

accuracy is pretty good as well. I dont like shooting it around the house, so i havent really rung it out, but heres my sight in at 30yds, and below the target dot a 3 shot group fired off hand at 20yds.

all in all im happy with this project, and ill be even happier if it can take the pig cleanly tomorrow.

ok, i never messed with the compressed air rifles only a few cheap barrel cocking guns. how many shots do you get before a refill. i always wondered if i could fill those tanks at my fire house.
some fire house are equiped with the equipment to do fills, some.arnt. ive got a couple buddy bottles i i w hoping my firefighter buddy could fill, but he cant, they get theres from gaspro.

rigjt now this thing is set up to.deliver a short string of 3 shots with a medium weight bullet. I can re tune this to deliver a longer string, but will less velocity or consistency.
a regulated, lower cal, lower power pcp with a 4500 psi tank can deliver all squirling performance on a single charge tho.

ya i think are thing will fill 4 tanks at a time, i always wondered if the fill would fit or if they where different. they have those hand pumps right, sounds like it would take some time to pump.

you can get adapters to fill just about any tank (on gun, buddy bottle, or otherwise) MOST paintball places fill via foster or have thier compressors set for ..scuba fittings. Firedepts etc usually have scba fill fittings.
you can get adapters for anything tho.
ive got scba bottles right now and a scuba to foster fill station, so imma pumper till i get an hi pressure scuba tank.

pumping takes a long time, and is actually a lot of effort, i believe the pumps are two.stage, so fairly low volume. it takes me about an hour to comfortably fill my bulldog if completely exhuasted.
This is why i usually shoot down less than 1k psi before filling.
