finally got around to tuning my bulldog. I want to use it tomorrow to harvest a pig up at my landlords place.
i finished polishing the internals, and porting the transfer port and valve a while ago, but didnt have a tall enough scope mount so never finished tuning my rifle. Now that my Midas didnt have a rifle and ive got a tall 30mm mount i can finish my project.
Today i finished installing an increased power hammer spring and tuneing the rifle for a 3 shot string.
with 147gr rebated boattail lead bullets its deliver an average velocity of about 858fps with a spread of 20fps between the three shots (861,867,846). it burns about 600psi to achieve that. Im pressurizing to 3100psi to force the slight bell curve while maintaining the high fps ratings.
Ive also ported the shroud with fine holes, progressing to larger, from about half way back on the bottom, to 3" infront of the receiver. coupled with the Pitbull Mega, the sound signiture is fairly low considering how much energy this thing delivers. its still kinda loud to the shooter, but from 10ft away Its not bad at all.
accuracy is pretty good as well. I dont like shooting it around the house, so i havent really rung it out, but heres my sight in at 30yds, and below the target dot a 3 shot group fired off hand at 20yds.
all in all im happy with this project, and ill be even happier if it can take the pig cleanly tomorrow.
