High Noon today brings the gaveling of the special session on gun violence. HB 4021 lumps the assault weapons, mag capacity, bump stocks and silencers into one ban. Legal owners of above items as of November 1, 2019 have until July 1, 2020 to dispose of or transfer out of the Commonwealth of Virginia to states where ownership of said items is legal. First order of business is to determine how long this session will go so it may be a few days before all the debating and voting is done.

If this passes there will be a run on storage units in West Virginia.
I would hope that common sense would prevail in this. There are simply way too many people negatively affected by this. Those people had better be writing their representatives as we speak...

Voted to adjourn until after fall elections in less than 2 hours without passing anything.

I've gotten a whole bunch of fund-raising emails from Democratic members of the Virginia legislature, touting what they plan to do about guns. There's a bidding war about who will do the worst. Apparently they think this is a selling point. I've written them back trying to set them straight, but this is like spitting into the wind.

I don't fault the politicians. They do what they think they need to do to get votes. I fault my fellow citizens who are receptive to this dangerous nonsense.
