Anyone else have one of these? Since I am individually weighing charges for the 6 dasher instead of just throw and go with a measure I needed a good funnel to fit the cases. These looked good and had good reviews.

Man is it rough. Very disappointing.

I've never tried the metal funnels. It's good to know they're not worth the time.

Have you tried the RCBS plastic funnels? I use one of those with my Lee powder through dies. It had a slight static issue when brand new, but that didn't last long.

Walkalong,

I have 2 Satern funnels. Here's some pics of the 30 caliber one. The stake on mine looks much "crisper" than yours and the interior is much smoother. The exterior of mine is rougher than the interior, but not a lot. I've had mine for a few years now, maybe quality has gone down. I'd be tempted to send yours back for either replacement or refund. Where did you get yours, from the manufacturer or a 3rd party?

Edit: Corrected spelling of Satern. Thanks, Englishmn.

I'm not clear what you man by, "rough", the aluminum funnel is ribbed, probably in the spinning process and the brass is machined to correctly fit the cartridges necks. I've got several of them in various calibers, once cleaned of any manufacturing lubricants they get the powder into the case.

I have 3 they look crude but fit on neck perfectly and powder dumps through them without static cling.
I got them really cheap second hand the normal retail price is kinda high.
So much better than a universal funnel that you have to hold onto while dumping powder.

I have a couple of them. The brass was rough in both of them until I polished it using a drill and some Scotch-Bright. They work fine but the cosmetics are disappointing given the cost.

Yea, those look real nice, I was just too cheap to go that route. Shoulda/woulda/coulda....... :)

I have one for .22 cal and it works great. It stands straight on the case without leaning over. That was the selling point for me. Powder doesn't spill. Just wish they were a little cheaper. But they'll last a lifetime.

how is the finish on yours? Is it as rough as the one Walkalong posted?

I use Saturn funnels when loading most of my calibers. They are well made but the main reason I use them is because the brass insert is caliber specific and recessed to enclose the case neck so that funnel stands upright on the case without being held. Which is why I bought them in every caliber available. Funnels.JPG

Looks like a couple of yours, especially the .270/6.8mm, look like mine. I guess if it works it doesn't matter, might have to shake it a little.

I guess I can understand that folks like to spend money on top of the line equipment but fail to understand why there is a need for a funnel in every caliber?? Heck even the Lee Funnel fits over any caliber and doen't spill a grain? If weighing every charge then the the Lyman Pan/Funnel works fine.Weigh and dump all in the same pan. I use it for 223/556

Read my post again and you will understand why have a funnel for every caliber. Saturn funnel,as noted, is caliber specific with the brass bottom part recessed so that it does not just fit over the top of the case like ordinary funnels, but closely encloses all, or most all, of the full length of the neck. Thus the funnel is supported by the case so that it stands alone and upright without other support. This leaves both of your hands free to do whatever else they need to be doing, such as weighing and trickling powder charges, etc. Once you try the Saturn, of funnels of of similar design, you won't use anything else.

I understand how they work. If that is your thing then go for it. To each their own. If only Dillon made some.:)

Whats wrong with the Lyman with brass adapters or the RCBS with (gads) plastic?
