Put a wet wash rag over any of the dings then hit it with hot iron... the dimples will pop right out. Some of the Caseys gun finish or 1/3 blo + 1/3 turpentine + 1/3 spar varnish will really bring that stock back to life!

i paid 250$ it sold for WHAT??

it's a GILF lol. call up your LGS good chance they have some old redline take offs recoil pads laying around, i do love the tang safety on them. that stock should be a fairly easy repair. i like to use the goof off stuff to clean all the cap off the wood, then ike said see if you can setam it some.

LGS had one superclean 2 yrs ago. It was not crazy price. sub 500 scoped w maybe an old lyman 4x.

IIRC it is a light weight rifle. Proly why it was in such good shape lol

That rifle has a lot of potential to be cleaned up and refinished. But Loctight is NOT wood glue. Maybe you can get some acetone or something similar down in the crack and flush that back out so that a proper glue will have a chance to hold the wood. Don't use something like mineral spirits. It will soak the wood with oil. Use something that feels cold on your hand. It will have no oil in it. Even brake cleaner might work.

Then depending on how tight the crack is what will tell you what glue to use. If its a hairline crack you can use thin CA. (super glue) but not the old weak stuff they sell at the grocery store. Go to a model shop and buy some of the Bob Smith, Zap or Carl Goldberg glue. Squirt that in the crack and clamp it as fast as possible. Silicone tubing if you can get it makes a great clamp by wrapping around the stock. Or just a C-Clamp if thats what you have.

If you can open the crack then a good wood glue like Titebond will work and its sandable. Its also should be clamped.

I would rather repair and refinish that stock than buy some laminate after market stock. Put on a new buttpad and refinish and you will have a neat, rare gun. I like that I came with open sights too. I won't hardly buy a rifle that doesn't come with sights on it.

for cracks that need gluing, i like to cut some wood out to make a better bond with the wood. i have a old set of feeler gauges. i cut saw teeth into them with a file and have different size hand saws to follow the crack. i works for me.
