Yeah I’m kinda bummed by their new policy. I’ve been buying Federal 9mm (brass, 115gr) 200 rounds for $33 and change. To me it was plinking/range ammo cheap enough that I never bothered to reload 9mm and it was nice to go and shoot and not go grubbing around after all the spent cases. It was easy, available and cheap.

So what’re your favorite alternatives for buying ammo now? I’ve never seen the 200 package anywhere else.

Buying online in bulk is the cheapest option and if you do it by the case you often don't pay anything additional for shipping. The downside is you have to spend enough cash to get a case at a time which is a problem for some folks. Short of that just look for deals on bulk packs at retailers near you. You were getting those federal rounds for $.16-.17 CPR which is about as good as it gets for brass 9mm these days so you probably won't match that without going the bulk buy route.

If you're on Reddit subscribe to the gundeals sub. There are quite a few ammo deals posted on it, among other goodies. Your wallet can thank me later.

I usually go online, or to a tractor supply store that carries ammo. Rural King is a big one in these parts. Local gun shops are just too high on price here.

However, anyone believing that the antis are not plotting to shut down online ammo sales as well are fooling themselves. We are certainly going to be hurting if or when that happens......

Physical retail stores are not the 800 pound gorilla in the forest that they used to be. There are other options. If Walmart has decided we need to go elsewhere we probably will. I really don't know what they expected the end result of this would be.

Lots of folks on here like to talk about how online is so much better than WM on ammo and it's mostly not true.

I was buying the same ammo the OP was but 1k rounds at a time. Cost out the door was around $175.

Since last Wednesday I was searching everywhere, all the links provided on here, and I could not find a comparable deal. Shipping is something be aware of. Some sites add it in and "claim" free shipping and others advertise a reasonable price but you pay shipping. 1k rounds of 9mm isn't light.

I have settled on the Sportsman Guide of which I was already a member. I can get a couple of different brand name brass cased 9mm for around $170 shipped, which was about what I was paying at WM. They also have some great deals on guns.

Thats my .02

Understood. I reload all my ammo. Reloading supplies aren't available at Walmart. I guess Walmart has added even another advantage to reloading. Walmart will drive people to another source. Whether good for them or not.

WHICH 9mm? Tula steel crap or Speer? I buy Speer lawman 124 for $180 to my door

I have bought from Georgia Arms , Academy Sports local and online, also buy whatever is on sale at the LGS. The three listed has same price or cheaper than Walmart plus better service

And if you shoot enough, or like to try small batches to see what works, TargetSportsUSA has a member deal for $95/year where EVERY order is at wholesale pricing and you get free shipping on every order, even if you do not buy case quantities - that can let you try all of those expensive defense loads one box at at time to see what works best on your gun and then you can buy for wholesale with free shipping...............hard to beat that deal

I’m right with ya OP, got no advice. I added the Ammoseek app and all these “good” deals are on ammo (tula, wolf) that I won’t buy so....

Depending on the caliber, the whole 1st page and more can be only steel cased.

Click on Advance Search Options and you can filter for bass case only.

On a side note,
IMO, looking only for lowest Internet pricing is worst for your local economy than buying from your local big box store.
