What have you fired this week?

Oh boy. Yesterday we had a 3-hour session breaking in & sighting in my son's Stag 10S. My ears are still ringing. 16" .308 with a muzzle brake is LOUD, even with Magtech 150gr factory loads. I made a glorious mistake by taking my earmuffs off once I was a solid 100' away from the firing line, behind a corner of a concrete building and the noise still literally hurt.

That has never happened with any other gun, even a .375H&H or 10-12" SBR .223 AR:s, which are loud in their own right. I have to get him a can, he's bringing it to moose hunt next week. Accuracy seems to be there, though; consistent 1½" 100yd 5-shot groups once the barrel was broken in.

I did an improvised, non-scientific comparison by shooting a half a box of 12ga trap shells myself (with muffs on, of course, 28" Beretta 1201F), comparing the report, and they sounded quieter to the shooter than the 10S at a distance.

Hi...
Nice day at the range yesterday.
My son and I went through 210 rounds of .223 with our ARs plinking at steel targets from 100-200yds.
Moved over to the handgun range and spent a couple hours shooting. My son shot his 10mm handguns, several 9mm. guns and his .357Mag.
I shot all three of my .,41Mag, there of my .357Mags, three of my .45Colts and one of my .44Mag revolvers.
My son also shot my .45Colt Cimarron 1873 lever action rifle and several of my revolvers as well.
Rained off and on all morning...we finally decided to pack it in about 12:30 in the afternoon.

I have a large Folgers coffee can full of brass to sort and tumble today, not counting the .223 brass that my son will deal with.

Went out to shoot the new Kimber on Friday. Only to find at the range I made a total rookie mistake and didn't plunk test my 45 reloads or bring any factory ammo to shoot in new gun. Wouldn't chamber :fire:, too long.

Good thing I brought some others that I was able to shoot.

Here's hoping I get another crack at the Kimber today, this time bringing numerous options for it to eat.

Tomorrow is opening day – deer season. Yesterday my wife and I drove down to the gravel pit. I picked out a rock that looked to be 6 to 8 inches in diameter, and about 150 yards away. Offhand, I pulled down on it with my .308 Norma Mag. BOOM-SMACK!

Then my wife pulled down on the same rock with her 7mm Rem Mag. BOOM-SMACK!

“That’s close enough,” I said. We put the rifles back in the truck and came home.

My wife has our traditional “Night Before Opening Day” vegetable-beef soup on the stove, and in a little while, I’m going to go out and put the deer cart in the back of the truck.:)

Hard to beat tradition 308Norma.

Zero checked my "DD" 7-08 with 3rds almost rapid fire then went for a hike with the Dobe.

It's my 50th anniversary..... Of qualifying with an M-14 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C..... On Oct. 10th, 1969. Still got the Data book with all the pertinent info & dates. So I got the civilianized M-14 (mostly G.I. parts built on a Smith Enterprises M-14 receiver) out of the safe and some handloads from my NRA High Power match days and put a total of 20 rounds through it. It rarely gets more than 20 or 30 rounds annually now; once upon a time I averaged 500-600 rounds a year. Those darn iron sights just don't look as sharp as they once did but still managed to keep 19 of 20 rounds in the black off a rest at 100 yds. on an NRA 100 yd. High Power target with a 6 inch diameter black center, (simulates 300 yd. stage). Pretty sure that one flier was the old guy behind the trigger having visual focus issues. Also checked zero on the fully rifled 12 ga. Remington 870 slug gun for this falls deer hunting in shotgun zones. Had to crank in a little more elevation to get re-zeroed at 100 yds.. All in all it was a great range trip in great T-shirt weather.... IMG_8618.JPG IMG_8629.JPG IMG_8627.JPG

Got out Monday to retry the Kimber. Turns out, if your rounds are in spec it runs like a top *facepalm* (my 230gr reloads were between .02 and .04 long, depending on which source I checked). Also brought the Henry 22, single six, and bisley Redhawk 44spl out to play.

Hi...
Good day at the range today.
Shot clay birds on the shotgun range to tune up for the upcoming pheasant season.
Went through an entire box of clay birds...broke them all(some in the air...a lot when they hit the ground).

Moved over to the pistol range. Shot all three .41Mags, three of our .357Mags, a couple of my .45Colts and one of the .44Mags.
Highlight was 20 rounds from Reed's Ammunition through my Dan Wesson .375SuperMag. I really need to get some more rounds loaded up for that revolver.
My son tested some handloads in several of his 9mm pistols and both of his 10mm pistols.
All in all, a pretty good morning.
We quit about quarter till one to go to lunch and then wandered on home to watch some football.
Brass to tumble this week and need to find some bullets to load for my .375SuperMag.

I generally try to shoot at least once a week, I think it would be fun to see what everyone else is getting behind and pulling the trigger on.

This week for me...

450 bushmaster AR

Daughters 300 blk AR - new optic, sight in for her

M&P AR 5.56

Glock 26
