A trip to the Range everything from RPGS to Carbines

Wow, sure beats the row of ARs 10-22’s and wonder-poly pistols that I usually see at the range .

I took out the bigger girls (.44 and .41) to stretch their legs last Friday... sadly, I had the only revolvers in the place. (I left the .454 SRH at home) There we’re about 6 of 10 lanes being used on this side, a few had targets pulled in when I took this.

Stay safe!

Thats Cool! We have a machine gun collector that comes to the range occasionally and we get to shoot some exotic stuff sometimes. Its nice change of pace from the AR's and Glocks.

Thought it would be a slow day at the range but man the old and strange rifles were out in force.

Man, you aren't kidding! The rifles were obscure enough but the RPG trainer...well that's something I definitely have never seen at the range! Thanks for sharing!

My friend got a new 22 rifle and wanted to test it out. Thought it would be a slow day at the range but man the old and strange rifles were out in force. A few of the guys allowed a couple photos..

Drool.......:D

wonder if that is a "real" planet of the apes gun.

From what the guy said it was a real Beneath the Planet of the Apes rifle.. When they made Planet of the Apes the original gun shells were made of a wood..

They started with 12 rifles. But they made a mistake, The wood shells were cut for WW 2 carbines & the movie studios purchased universal carbines. The universal carbines are not the exact size of the WW 2 carbines and they beat the hell out of the shells. By the time they were near the end of filming the recoil from the blanks had torn up the shells. They were badly cracked and the studio was down to one gun that was still screen worthy.. And it was heavily glued and taped...

So when they made the Beneath the planet of the apes they decided to make the shells out of Aluminum.. This shell should out live the gun.

When the movie was over they shipped 6 of them to the tv show and sold off the others. The tv Show rifles had a rough life. They were painted with fake leather straps on the barrels and stocks. They tossed the Bayonets away because the actors keep getting hurt with them. (Tv actors geesh) And by the end of the tv series, they were pretty beat.

This one shot real Bullets. It was not set up for blanks. So that was cool.

The only issue I saw was when people shot it they usually have follow it by yelling "Cornelius, Zira help me" or "Damn dirty apes" or even "Don't try to follow me I'm pretty handy with one of these".

I did try to point out to them that those lines were from the wrong movie for this model gun but they looked at me like I was a fungus.

That was neat to see fired because they used tracer rounds in it and the round simulated the arch of an RPG, It was a cool visual.

By the way you can just call me Indy, no need to be formal

1: what’s the chambering on that RPG trainer?

2: where are they sold?

Kinda want one now for the “get off my lawn” collection...

They shot a normal soviet rifle round.. I think 7.62x39..

And I think the RPG was marked Bulgaria.. So this is some kinda Bulgarian surplus dealer??? You put the tracer round in the Rocket and then load the rocket in the tube It was really pretty simple...

Crap why describe let Youtube do the work,,
