I'm running out of room for my pistols. I was wondering if there is a cheaper pistol safe I can put on top of my regular gun safe. I have somehow gotten up to 18 pistols now and im out of room in the main gun safe, taking all door and shelving room for pistols.

Do you store your guns in their plastic cases? If so maybe you can clear some clutter and get it all in? I dont like pistol safes, way too easy for them to walk off.
No. The hang on the inside of the door and lay flat on the shelving.

I like the hangers benp linked. They essentially double what each shelf can hold, with pistols on top in the wire racks and pistols hanging below on the hangers.

That being said, if you need external solutions I'd look into office safes. They're smaller, but still secure enough that if you bolt one to the wall it's going to take some effort to break into it.

I have a separate handgun safe. It is bolted to the top of my long gun safe. It is also screwed to the wall. If feel like it is secure....relatively speaking.
They are both inexpensive. Not fireproof either.
Homack brand I believe.

You can often find smaller vintage safes on Craig's list from reputable makers. These will be heavy though. Very heavy.

Made these hangers out of old steel fishing rods. Cost was about a half hour of time each, or less, some shrink tube, mapp gas, electricity.

Measured barrel length and overall handgun length for each handgun, took it from there.

Made some more room in the safe, but still seems I need more room. a.k.a. another safe.

It might be worth it to just buy another safe. If your current safe is crammed already, think about how much easier life would be if you could spread it out between 2 safes. It doesn't have to be a widebody or anything, just another reasonable safe. There is also the potential to store other things... documents, other valuables, backup drives and such for your computer, etc... in there, too.

I'm to the point of buy another, bigger, or both makes more sense. I just cannot get another thing in my current set up. the hanging rods make sense, but there is only so much space.
