Went to Cabelas to buy some lead balls for a cap and ball test and happened into the gun library. They had several Smith Model 37s for pretty good prices, including one for $350 which I almost got. Then I saw this Taurus PT101AF and after a few minutes walking around and trying to talk myself out of it I asked the dude to open the case. All the guns now have to have trigger locks on them, and if you want to try the trigger they make you go into the back office and point it into a bullet trap.
RIDICULOUS. But it functioned as intended, despite being totally dry. After points it cost me $189 out the door with the OEM box and one mec gar mag.
Disassembled pics are as I got it; assembled pics are post lube so there may be some oil and grease spots. There’s a tiny bit of blue wear on the front lower left edge of the polished slide flat but otherwise it looks like someone bought it in around 1992 and left it in a drawer. Grip screws are untouched, minimal to no internal wear. I’d wager it hasn’t been fired outside the factory.
Anyway I have the “stainless” version and a couple mags so now it has a brother. FYI Beretta uppers will actually swap on these and function, even with the redundant slide mounted Beretta safety.
Range report to follow.
Ugh I have no idea why the forum software flips all the images. Anyway you get the idea
