I got a chance to handle a bunch of different guns yesterday, halfassedly shopping for something CCW so I handled about a dozen guns and there were a few that I did like the feel of ( hellcat, k9, s&w 642) that I rejected ( hellcat for for the price point although it was impressive otherwise, the k9 was heavy and I'm not enamored by very short barelled revolvers) but I walked away pretty impressed with the Taurus TH9c.

Seems like a great price point ($239) and I really liked how it felt. The extra longer magazine was a pleasant surprise too. The size and weight are about perfect for me with the shorter mag since I don't need ultra small either.

Anyone own one and like it?

I have been soured on Taurus too many times to be interested.

Most recently this evening. I took in a 45 millennium as part of a trade . The guy basically gave it to me as we both knew it was on recall and the gun was also in poor shape.

I sent it in to Taurus for their exchange program nearly 4 weeks ago and decided to call them to check on status. At this time I was informed that Taurus was waiting on me to call them...to tell them I wanted them to send me the replacement...which was the whole reason I sent it in to begin with complete with anprior phone conversation to log this and an FFL transfer also stating this.

So they sat on the gun for 3+ weeks with all of my info and didn't notify me prior or during to contact them. Now I wait another 6-8 works according to the lady on the phone today despite being told previously the whole process would be 4-6 weeks.

I don't even want the Taurus they are giving me for free. I have had nothing but issues with them. I realize a lot of people like their Taureses (Tauri?). I can't honestly see why though. They often don't reliably function and are sold at a price comparable with more proven designs, models and companies like Ruger, Canik, EAA, walther etc.

As far as I can tell when a Taurus customer is satisfied it's usually 1 of 2 things: the firearm isn't shot very much or the end user doesn't expect very much.

IMO, it is hard to find a niche for that size gun. And it seems like they're cannibalizing their own product lines. It isn't quite as compact as their G2c. which sells for around $180.00, why have a gun that size at all? Either move down to a G2c or a micro-nine, or purchase a full-size nine like the TH9. To tell the truth you can get a Canik TP9SF for $20 more and it is a way better gun.

You aren't wrong about the sizing and price for most people I think. In my case I'm looking for a bigger ccw so it does kind of fit my goals.

Although finding a nice p95 would be great too

You are 100% right on about the above. I bought into the hype of the new Taurus TX22 and the redefined G2C. Purchased both early this year, my 1st ever of Taurus firearms. Both failed, TX22 slide cracked due to a defectively designed recoil assembly and the G2C developed a hairline crack in the underside of the slide. I got rid of both guns and will never ever spend a dime on a Taurus product again.

I've got the older versions of this in a pt809c and fullsize. I liked them so much I bought the pt840 fullsize as well. The guns are essentially the same as the th9 series save for cosmetics. I love all of mine

I have had some good Taurii.

Certain models have done well for me: Model 66 derivatives, Model 85 derivatives, copies of Berettas, and the PT111/G2C. Most of the ones I have are older.

I have avoided most of the newer semiautos.

No. It's a brand new model. They discontinued the pt809 which literally is the same thing other than cosmetics

I've had good luck with Taurus autos and revolvers. I've owned dozens throughout the years but I still currently several.

One that I find to excel in value is the G2C. I own two and each has been flawless. They also see for well under $200 when on sale (for example, Palmetto State Armory currently has them listed at $179.99).

As for the TH9/TH9c, I nearly purchased one a few months ago but was drawn to the Sarsilmaz SAR9 (imagine a G17 slide on a VP9 frame) and liked it so much I purchased two. I still plan on coming back around for another look at the TH9. I've read good things about them.

They could just as well have named it the THC 9. At least that would appeal to the stoner crowd.

After handling them A bit more.....I ended up with the g2c because I felt a hammer would snag on things more.

I like the g2c so far, fored about 150 thru it flawlessly but the trigger is gonna take some time to get used to, nothing g I've owned it quite like it

The G2C seems to be a pretty good pistol. Mine is, anyway. Yeah, the trigger is kind of odd, but it's not hard to get used to. My "practical accuracy" with it seems about the same as any other 9mm pistol of roughly the same size.

Just inherited a PT809 and G2 from a family member that has advancing Alzheimer's. This will now go along with my PT92C which goes with me everywhere. I have shot both of the others and they are nice enough though no where near my favorites. Will keep them as with the cost of a new one I am not going to just give these away.
