You’re right, but beggars can’t be choosers.A pairing knife. A Mora is better for bushcrafting and processing wood but not so good for game. So if the buddy is cutting game, it would be a pairing knife. If he was whittling a feather stick, a Mora. Mercer and Victorinox make good pairing knives, but there are many more, Henkels etc. They're under $10. They cut game very nicely too. If I was cutting very large game, I would want a few of them, but otherwise, I don't really feel a need for a more costly knife.

I hunt alone, I always have way more blades than I need, and IF I hunted with someone, it would be a brother that I would have no problem loaning any of my blades to, any but the EDC pocket knife - it stays with me as my last ditch item.
