What you think of them. Are they worth the extra $25 for just a longer stock?.

I was never allowed to have one when I was a kid, dad said there more dangerous then 22s. I've shot 22 before I can even remember. I love the Christmas story movie, I like to keep it on all day and night when it's on. My mother can't stand it lol.

My dad never liked them because his cousin would shoot him when they were kids and he would get in trouble after beating the cousin up.

So anyone look at the adult, or should I just get the normal one. I have not looked online but what do the original ones bring these days.

I could make the stock if I want it longer. I have some walnut and curly maple. Do you know how the new ones shoot. Dad has a early one with the brass band and it will shoot bottle caps all day at 10 yards. I don't shoot it anymore.

The new Red Ryders are pretty good but the new guns do not hit as hard as the original 111-40 Red Ryder, that's for sure! I have an all original copper band RR myself and it has a MV of 320 fps. A new RR will do about 270 fps, give or take. Accuracy is a little better with the new gun.

Ok thanks there new ad says 350 fps lol.

Yeah, they have been using the "up to 350 fps" and "max velocity of 350 fps" dodge since forever. It takes one of my custom HP springs and a drilled out air tube to get 350 fps. Stock, it just ain't happening.

It would be cool to not rod one. I miss having the old daisy 10 pump guns can't remember the model had a nice one with old 3/4 tube scope, I shot that one a lot. Funny I want to get these air guns back.

Yeah, it was memories from my childhood that got me to try a new one a while ago. I was glad that I still enjoy them so much. You might be thinking of the Daisy 880. It and the Crosman 760 pumpers were- and still are- very popular and both are still made today! I love my 880s, a lot of fun without having to spend a small fortune on the gun and all the support equipment that goes along with some of them. Don't get me wrong- the PCPs are great and all, just not what I like personally.

Something to consider, you could pick up a Red Ryder from Walmart for $25, then later if you wanted to you could buy the adult stock directly from Daisy. The p/n is 169952-000, costs $20 plus shipping.

You can call Daisy at 479-636-1200 and they will take your order. They will also send you a parts list/diagram for any Daisy, but parts are available only for guns currently being made.

I could make the stock, to save the $20. I wished they did some other things different with the adult. But under stand why they did not. I may have to go pick up some one day. I'd like to get daisy 753 I believe. I used one when I shot jrotc air rifle I only used it for a month but I shot 4 perfect 300 score with one.Cmp has them for $105 but I'd have to have someone but it for me.

Troy, anyone can buy a rebuilt Daisy 853 from the CMP. You don't have to belong to any program or anything. They have a choice of the sporter stock (better for plinking) or the heavier, bulkier target type stock for the same price. They are quite a bargain.

Ok cool they were a very accurate rifle. I think I'd get the sporter stock. How are the plastic Chinese repro sights.

They list the stocks as "Monte Carlo" and "regular." Which is the "sporter" and which is the "heavier, bulkier target type"?

Like Troy said, the regular = sporter. The regular stock is actually the stock that came on the 853 originally. The Monte Carlo target type stock is what came on the 753.

My first gun had the M/C but it wasn't what I wanted for woods walking and plinking so I bought a regular stock from Numrich. It can be seen here: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/529800
You hunted with yours or just shooting. They shoot so good head shot at 10 to 12 would kill a squirrel.

Nah, no hunting any more for me. I can see how me saying woods walking might lead someone to think that but in my case, I just shoot inanimate targets of opportunity. lol

Ya that's what I kinda thought, sounds like fun tho. I made the pre qualifier for the 08 Olympics with the daisy when I was in jarotc. I think I could have went farther but my parents separated and missed the shoot because of court.

Man, that's a darned shame. On all counts.
Ya, I remember shooting over a dozen perfect 300 scores. with that cheap gun still can't remember if it was a 753 or not, I was getting fitted at the time for a anschutz. I had to move after the divorce the new school did not have a air rifle team.
