This is "Activism Discussion and Planning" - Look up on top.

We should be talking about what "Activism" activities are effective, stay updated to current events, make necessary adjustments and plan to carry them out FOCUSED on situation in Virginia (Thread title).

Opinionated discussions don't belong here - They belong in "General Gun Discussions".

Based upon what happened Monday, there seems to be a fair amount of resistance from 3 or 4 Democratic senators. For example, they don't support an AWB, and that's enough to defeat it. The "red flag" provision, although it went forward, was watered down in committee to the point where it's less usable, for practical purposes, than existing law. So there is reason for guarded optimism.

The one thing that could ruin all this for us is if there is violence at the Jan. 20 rally. That's why the ban on weapons is a good thing for us. Some demonstrators seem determined to bring weapons, defying the police. If this leads to "incidents" it could spell our doom.

yes but the average time it takes a case to go from court to scotus is an average of a minimum of three years to 5 years and in some cases as long as 10 years. IF SCOTUS will even hear the case.

right now a lot is riding on the Mass. Worman v Healy case. If SCOTUS will hear that one (currently waiting for cert.) and they find in favor, it will knock down most if not all the AW bans and registration as well as most if not high cap magazines. That case maybe heard this year, or may be pushed to be heard until next November -April Term, which puts that off for a year. If they hear it this year. It will put a stop to these bills once a ruling is heard.

the other cases will still have to make their way up. So don’t look for this to happen overnight.

challenging to SCOTUS is a long expensive process costing as much as a million dollars or more. It is estimated that the NYC case has cost the plaintiffs 1.5 million already.

I just wanted to take a moment to confirm your assessment. Here in Alaska, we just finished the Sturgeon case with the US Supreme Court. It was hunting and public lands access related, rather than 2A, but the concepts and principles are just as you laid out-very time consuming and very expensive. It took several years and over a million dollars to take it all the way to the top court. He spent a lot of his money, AK hunters donated their money. I think some attorneys worked pro bono. The state government funded a portion of the bill and provided legal counsel as well. What a goat rope, but we came out on top in the end. He is still paying the bills on it though.

I'll just add that this is why it is so important for all of us to get in the fight. The legal fight. We have to start parting with our money easier. (At least I do anyway.) The founding fathers never envisioned a system where money equals access to justice, but that's where we are today. We need to fund effective pro 2A organizations now, to fight this current threat, and in the future. This is a cold war. And just like the Cold War, we will win by spending our enemies into the ground.

Question...
Are the Virginia Supreme Court Justices Liberal or conservative?

On the federal side, If the senate can ever get back to work without this impeachment crap to Confirm the last 51 (conservative) judges to the bench we will have more conservative judges in the federal court system then Liberals.

This will give us a distinct advantage to fighting these laws in the courts.

However on a state level... what are most of the m judges as wel as Va Supreme Court?

Closed until the 20th when Lobby Day will indicate what might be the direction.

For the immediate future, at this point if you haven't made time to go to Lobby Day AND joined VCDL AND paid for someone's seat on a bus to go to Lobby Day AND donated to VCDL, then join VCDL, pay for someone's seat on a bus, and donate, or pay for someone's seat to go and donate to VCDL or donate to VCDL.

Flood the in-boxes of legislators with the polite and clear, "I'm opposed to any further restrictions on firearms owners since VA has been blessed with a falling homicide rate for several years and no clear beneficial relationship has been found in adding restrictions on law abiding citizens and reducing homicide rate. Focus on the causes of violence and the means to solve those instead. Remember that those that write are more likely to vote and to influence others to vote. Respectfully, XXYYZZ".

Well. I don't see anything anywhere that lists their political ideology. I did find that they are appointed to 12-yr terms by a majority vote of the General Assembly. If Virginia has been a reliably red state, as we've been told, for so many years, only going blue this year, then it is probably a safe guess that the majority of the justices lean conservative.

Lobby Day was a huge success by any standards. We should all have a great sense of satisfaction that huge numbers of patriots of all races, creeds, ethnicities, cultures, sexes, showed up and that only good things took place.

While this clearly demonstrated to Northam and his cronies that they underestimated the support for the 2A in VA, a successfull rally is the fun part of Activism. Now the hard work must be seen to.

Keep the letters, emails, phone calls flooding in to the elected officials. Remind them politely that you oppose any restrictions on gun owners and that you will support them if they support us AND that you will work against them if they vote against us. Remember that there are Recall efforts already starting to unseat Antis so you don't have to wait until November to unseat those who would infringe upon the 2nd. Get 5 friends or family that are VA voters to sign those Recall petitions. If just one seat is recalled it sends a huge message. Start NOW working against the Antis that have publicly pledged to take away your rights and remember that the Antis are against all of those that showed up for Lobby Day regardless of race, creed, color, gender, ancestry, left, right, or libertarian. This is a natural right guranteed to all Americans.
