I was just talked into working a weekend security gig for $25hr to sit on my butt all day, but I have to use a company provided weapon which is either a Glock 9 or 40cal. The guy I spoke with doesn't know the model number and they don't issue but a cheap leather holster. I am looking at getting a Safariland 6360 or similar from Ebay but they don't know which model Glocks they have. Will a 19 fit a 17/22 holster? I know nothing about Glock (S&W) fan here.

Yes. The ALS system locks on the barrel hood area and the only difference in dimensions between the G19 and G17 are the bottom of the grip and the front of the slide.

SOME kydex holsters that lock onto the WML will not work for both, but nearly all G17/22 holsters will also work for G19/23.

Thanks, I knew it locked onto the barrel hood just wasn't sure if it would line up. I have a 6360 for my M&P. I wanted to stick with the same. I also have a Blackhawk Serpa Level 3 for the M&P I know a glock fits, but I don't like mix matching.

Just got off the phone with them and they ordered a brand new G19 with night sights that will be here next week.

Just me thinking here but I wouldn't lay out a dime for a holster for someone else's gun (especially not for what sounds like a warm body gig) unless I knew I was going to be there long enough to make it worth my while.

They have a several year contract with this retail store and another one is a high level corporation that sometimes needs armed guards for whatever reason. Seems to pop up quiet a bit. I figured under $50 would be good insurance seeing how I will be around a lot of people.

I mean if it's an ongoing gig it would be worth it. Just when you said you were going to spend most of your time sitting on your ass I ASS-U-ME-d it was a warm body job and there weren't going to be too many people around

The corporation gets threatened a lot I guess and brings in armed services for a month or two so I would assume it’s sitting in a lobby. The other is a grocery chain that I would just be hanging at the door and register area.

I've been night watchman at an empty warehouse for 6 month. I have the entire place to myself and all I have to do is walk the fence line twice an hour. I'm getting spoiled

Did that around 2007 or so for a faucet factory that closed up. Got up and walked the inside and outside and found the boiler room door open that was closed an hour before. Only way to open it was from the inside too. The place had minimal power so I called the local PD and they sent K9. He says he’s pretty sure someone was in there at one point and left. After that I kept my butt in that office and watched cameras. It was so dark in there at 2am I could have walked right past the guy and never knew. Still no idea how they got in and for how long. I’m just doing these gigs on weekends to help out a friend and make some extra money.

Most holsters will work for a series of firearms of similar builds, depending on how tight the kydex fits. So 17/19 will normally fit in the same holster. Same thing for G 22/23. You can play it really safe and use the issued crappy holster until you know for sure what firearm it is, then order your own holster.

The Glock factory holsters are dirt cheap and work better than most. The come in 2 sizes, one for any 9mm, 40, 357 sig frame and another for the larger 10mm and 45 frames.

Another that I like. The Phalanx holsters will fit almost any pistol. I can use the same holster for Glock, Smith M&P, Ruger or Sig. They make several versions. IWB, OWB, left and right handed as well as one long enough to cover the slide and barrel and another shorter version.

I’m a big fan of safariland 5199 for G23.
level 1 retention with an easy on/off clip, matter of fact I used the same model for my M&P40 also.

I am in need of a duty holster. Level 2 at minimum and preferred level 3. They don’t want me conceal carrying it. I’ll be cargo pants and polo shirt. They want full duty belt from what I was told. Due to insurance reasons and this being one of the largest security firms in the country I must use their firearm and taser if issued.

I can imagine, but there's no point in potentially doxxing yourself over it. Congrats (on it not being Comcast) and good luck!

As for the holster, I used a few different rigs in the military and a Safariland was far and away the best fit/finish. It's where I'd start if I had to do it all over again. Hopefully your belt won't be too crowded for the gun, but if is you might look at drop leg if that's an option.

I’d still go with safariland reasonable prices.

No drop leg allowed. I wore one when I worked for an armored truck carrier and hated it. I have room on the belt as I wear a size 40 pants. lol.

Well I scouted the location and found out the grocery store sits right behind the projects so for the extra insurance I ordered a Safariland 6360 off Ebay for $50. I figured making $400 in a weekend I can fork over $50 for a little peace of mind. They wanted to give me a Blackhawk Serpa CQC holster and I told them they could keep it.

Well this sucks! The company found out I wasn’t happy about using a Serpa cqc holster so ordered a level 3 for me and didn’t tell me until I picked up the firearm. The same day the safariland was shipped with no returns. eBay banned me for some reason saying I failed to ship something that someone bought but I’ve never used eBay but one time to buy. They said it’s based off my address. I’m now stuck with a holster. I am glad I went with the level 3 cause it’s standing by the registers of a grocery store in the hood. Lots of people all around me.

So if I understand your post you got the whole store that you bought off of eBay and the security company got you another one is that correct?

Use theirs, keep yours you'll need it sooner or later

It's always good to have a spare/back up, especially for work.

As a teenager and in my 20s riding dirt bikes, since I visited deep remote deserts a lot, all of my daily driven VW station wagons (Squarebacks) and dune buggies had 2 coils mounted side-by-side and I carried another complete 009/050 distributor wrapped with plastic cling wrap. I always carried 2 full size spares to the desert. If any issues with the coil, simply plug into the next one. And one trip, we even needed to use the second spare tire.

When I drove up and down the state for L&C survey work, I carried a full size spare in addition to the compact spare and always carried 2 sub-zero mummy sleeping bags along with a week's worth of food and water ... And a Glock as during the 12-14 hour drives, if I got tired/sleepy, I would pull over and find a spot to sleep/camp for the night. (Ah, happy memories)

I bought a spare Glock 22 when I switched USPSA caliber from 45ACP/9mm to 40S&W. Any issue during the match (Yeah, I was lazy and shot thousands of rounds before I cleaned my Glocks shooting matches), I simply grabbed the other pistol.
