Shooting a 600 yard F Class match last weekend, I managed to put both sighters (top 2) and all 20 shots for record inside the 10 ring (6” diameter). 14 of the 20 were inside the X ring (3” diameter).

That ties my best match score, however, this is the tightest group I’ve shot to date

Uh, oh. They are going to have to reduce the target again, 200-14X is too good.
I was there when they went from the HP target with 2 MOA ten ring to the dedicated F class targets at one MOA because scores off rests and bipods were getting too high. 200-20X feasible.

Good Deal
Still a High Power Shooter, just like getting "Slung Up"
Will be infiltrating our Ranges April F Class Match, and shooting a Bolt .308 Savage w/ Irons in March.
Using a High Power Target on the End of the Range
Never cleaned a 600 yd Target, but have done it at 2 and 300 Yards w/a M1A.

Good Job!!

It’s a Kelbly Stolle Panda action in a Kelbly KTS stock, a 28” J. Lederer 4 groove HV barrel, Ezell barrel tuner and a Kahles 10-50x56 scope. I’m using a Farley front rest and an Edgewood rear bag.

The rifle is chambered in 6mm BR Ackley. My load is using 108 Berger BT Target bullets, Lapua brass, 30.6g H4895, CCI BR4 primer, -0.020” off the lands

Thx B
I’ve been chasing the lands but found that a certain depth shot smaller so I just quit worrying about the lands until it changes.
Not sure what else to do but test frequently
J
Additionally I have about.030 erosion

Nice shooting

how much wind adjustment did you make?

Thanks,

I was predominantly shooting In the boil and generally holding the top of the 10 ring for a 5-8 mph wind coming from 12 o’clock.

My 3 match agg for the day was a 597-30x. On each of the 3 dropped shots I had underestimated the intensity of the mirage and didn’t hold off enough

I’ve been paying less attention the range flags as of late and relying more on feeling the wind on my face to determine wind direction. More often than not the flags are contradicting each other and more confusing than helpful.

Wow, very nice shooting.
I would like to see one of those competitions is there a site to see locations? Has 6mm become the standard cartridges for long shots? At the competition are they all 600yrds F class or other classes also?

There are 2 separate categories for F Class. F/TR, which is limited to .308 and .223, and F Open which can be anything else up to .338 caliber.

There are 2 distance categories, Mid range, which goes out to 600 yards and long range, which goes out to 1,000

For F Open 6mm is very competitive at 600 and I would say the 6mm BR variants are the most common.

1,000 yards is a different story. The .284 win and 300 WSM are most represented.

This guy does a pretty good job summarizing an F Class match

I’d do a google search to see what might be offered near you. You can go watch, or my advice would be to find one and just go shoot it. It may sound intimidating but it’s not really. People will be happy to help you get your feet wet.

That's some real good shooting. What range did you shoot at? During my brief sojourn in shooting F/TR I was at a match in Tennessee at Arnold Air Force Base. It was an overcast day, mid 70's temperature and absolutely no wind. On two targets we had to replace the X ring twice because the shooters were dialed in. Completely shot out the target backer.
