I follow some of the Twitter accounts involved with 3D printing and I just have to shake my head.

They never wrote laws of any significance for 200+ years against DIY gun building. The popularity of 80% builds was steadily growing. Then these guys started chucking political Molotovs through windows and make the public think that nobody was building their own guns before they came around.

I love the technical stuff they're doing but, in my opinion, their activism is so inept and counterproductive to the 2nd amendment that I honestly wonder if they aren't being financed by Dianne Feinstein or George Soros.

I've seen some say that there is "No such thing as bad publicity". How you can look at the history of politics and honestly believe that, I have no idea. Even your average loony leftists doesn't believe that.

By screaming like lunatics about people making guns in their own basements, rather than letting the technology quietly become so ubiquitous that banning anything seems absurd, the rest of us gun owners are left running around doing damage control over their antics.

Just for reference, these are some of the accounts I'm following,

The "Non-Twiter 3D Gun printers" I am aware of generally don't have an ego the size of Alaska and don't really talk about 3D printing that much. Like normal people who are quietly working on improving something.

So, your thoughts? Am I off base? Are these the guys the future of 2nd amendment activism? Or am I right and we just have to keep following these guys around with a pooper-scooper? Are they a bit of both?
