As said, I think this one goes deeper. I’m seeing my anti-2A neighbors buying guns (in fact, I’ve helped to guide a few of them towards proper storage devices). With new guns, comes new ammo. There is a disruption in a global routine...stay-at-home orders, restricted shopping, closures.....as well as a general fear of illness and resource shortages. This causes panic. Some respond by preparing further/more intensely and some respond by throwing societal norms out the window. Driving around to a few groceries yesterday (stores had plenty of TP, btw....I didn’t even bother buying), you would have thought the Toe Cutter was driving every other car. You can sense the panic. Although Ohio’s LGS are considered essential, the lines have been so bad that they are closing their doors and selling on-line with parking lot pick-up. I’m in healthcare and my panic is real and earned. My panic comes from when (not if) Covid-19 hits my facilities, how long will it be before too many staff are sick and can’t take care of the patients. Picture our soldiers knowing about the attack on Pearl Harbor for a month in advance, re-routing the anti-aircraft to the European Front and issuing each soldier one clip of ammo for their Garand. That being said, you would be amazed at the vast numbers of $12/hour nurse aides still coming to work each day, putting themselves and their families at risk to care for people. Brings a tear to the eye.
