Can it be done? BFR 357 Herrett?

BFR 30-30 has been on my list for a while but it just doesn’t make sense. The practicality goes out the window as a hunting gun because you lose velocity and then 30-30 becomes marginal for hunting purposes. Thinking of 30-30 based rounds though i came up with the idea of buying the BFR 30-30, swapping barrels to a .357 barrel and reaming the cylinders to 357 Herrett. Something akin to a 357 max contender setup would likely be the result only in a thumper revolver.

Am I oversimplifying the thought process? Would the ever so slight shoulder be a revolver issue? I would think not since 30-30 works.

There may be setback issues with the small-shouldered .357 Herrett round in a revolver, other than that it could be an option.

Stay safe.

I was thinking about cartridge setback with that tiny (Herett) shoulder as well. I would probably opt for the 357 maximum

I like thinking outside of the box but think this may be an $$, less than ideal option.
Not sure the best option there ballisticly. I haven't looked at the long framed options much as they just don't do much for me. I have a Contender for those types of things.

I would think you could hand load the 30-30 with a better BC bullet in it or the Contender as well as with better suited powder and get better performance from it in that short barrel.

I've wanted the 50JRH in a BFR but have other thumpers so likely will let that remain a dream.
