I changed grips on my three Blackhawks which moved my hand position back to the point that I can't thumb the hammers back with my grip thumb. I have to use my other hand to cock the hammer which isn't a bad deal but not one I want to use forever.
Yep, that's what I need a lower profile thumb rest. I'll try to find the SBH hammers and I think I can do the work myself. Thank you!I have changed a few. I like the Super-Blackhawk profile on my regular Blackhawks. For me it is much easy to cock and I like the lower profile of this hammer.
It takes some time, but is not overly complicated. It looks like SBH hammers are out of stock at Midway, but if you read some of the reviews they give you an idea of what you will end up with.
Here is a picture for reference:

each to his own but I wouldn't be recommending thisI have swapped out all the beavertail hammer spur hammers on my Super Blackhawks for the Blackhawk hammer profile. And no sooner than I remove one, someone is ready to scoop it up!
I cock the hammer usually as I begin my draw and the narrow hammmer spur provides a better "purchase" of the hammer. Sort of like this, but one gun only:

2 handed shooter and right handed, thumb the hammer w my left.
Even then, I prefer the Super hammer over the reg Blackhawk.
And on New Models they'll interchange.
I have a couple of stainless dragoon grip frames and hammers should blued New Model BHs come along that need "correcting"
