Pistol: Hornady, RMR and Zero

Rifle: .22 CF Hornady and RMR
.243 and up: Speer and Hornady, and left over Noslers. Used to be Nosler exclusively, but even their blems are out of my price range these days. :(

If I have to pick a single favorite it would be Woodleigh. I love that it's still possible to buy what are essentially Kynoch softs and solids from the old African days.

Having said that, between the cost and the bruised shoulder, I don't shoot all that many of them. The overwhelming majority of my shooting is done with home cast projectiles. When I do buy bullets, they most often come from Hornady. They still make "old school" round nose rifle bullets, and they make the world's best .38 HBWC. Good luck finding any of it in stock, of course...

For rifle, it depends.

My 22 Hornet really likes Speer 40 gr Spire Points.
I shoot Hornady 40 grain V-max the most in my 204 Ruger rifles (2 AR's and one Savage 12FV). They shoot 32 grain Hornady and Sierra bullets about the same. The 39 gr Sierra Blitzking works about as well if I cannot get the V-max.
I liked Sierra 69 gr MatchKing for 100 yard Service Rifle Matches in my 223 Rem AR-15's.

Otherwise, I shoot what I can find. I'd like to try some Berger bullets in 17 caliber for 17 Remington but they have been difficult to find. I have some 22 caliber Nosler bullets to try but have not loaded any yet.

I have been building a 22 BR rifle for prairie dogs but I have not shot it yet. So, I do not what it may like. It has a twist for heavier bullets so finding a good bullet for longer ranges is a priority.

For handgun, I'm not so fussy. I like Berry plated bullets. I also cast and shoot alot of home cast plinking bullets. If I want to load something for serious work, I'll use what ever jacketed bullet that is available. For handgun, it does not seem to matter much on brand.

I mostly reload hunting rounds, so Hornady or Barnes for rifle. Pistol is Berrys for 9mm plinking, Hornady and some Sierra for SD.

Rifle: Nosler and Hornady.

handgun: I’m not particularl. As long as I can get them in bulk. I’m not gonna work up a load for a couple 100 bullets for handgun. But make it 1,000-5,000, now it’s worth my time.

I've tried a wide variety of brands over the years for just about every common application.
For decades my "go-to brand" was Speer. Then Hornady caught my attention and I'm pretty well hooked on that for defensive handgun rounds. For rifle ammo, I'm still using Speer.
A few years back, the only thing available was Barry's Bullets so I was forced to try them.
I was extremely skeptical at first... due to the availability and very low prices but for plated cast bullets, they aren't bad.
Of course I carefully checked each one at first, then randomly... a few from each box after that & they have been remarkably consistent. (Insert jokes here)
For target shooting / range use, they are perfectly acceptable. Are they match grade? Of course not. But for teaching safety / general target shooting I think they are fine.
And the price can't be beat.

Good info here - Thanks for starting this.
I'll add a few that haven't been mentioned for cast and coated - Brazos and Hoosier.
I have used Rim Rock for 30-30 and been very happy.
Someone already mentioned Acme - Good bullets and GREAT boxes!

For target shooting I've used Berry's and Xtreme copper plated bullets for 38/357 reloads. I've found Xtreme to be cheaper than Berry's. I ordered 1000 158gr 38 SWC (plated) yesterday direct from Xtreme for $131 after shipping and tax. I just looked at Berry's 158gr plated 38s and they were $150 with "free" shipping. Like Cabelas shipping isn't necessarily free. Both brands worked fine for my application though.

IME, most any bullet from a reputable manufacturer works, especially iffin' you are talking about jacketed. From there it comes down to what you want as terminal performance(expansion/penetration). Plated, swagged and cast are a tad more finicky per weapon, but once I find one that works, I tend to stick with it. Never really been that impressed with Berry's, but the work well enough for cheap plinkers. Xtreme tend to work better for me iffin' I use plated.

I have guns that prefer a particular bullet to get max accuracy. With that said most are Sierra or Hornady for rifle. I use MBC for all my lead pills for hand guns, and RMR for jacketed. RMR is slowly working there way into my rifle loads.

I really liked the Midway "Dogtown" specials years back, I am a sucker for a bargain...I am just an enthusiast.

Acme, which is local for me, and RMR because of the MPR and because Jake hangs around here.

Hi...
For handgun jacketed bullet loads I have used Hornady bullets for many years. Cast bullet loads, I have pretty much settled on Kings Shooters Supply coated bullets.
Rifle bullets pretty much depends on what ever a particular rifle likes.

I couldn't nail down one brand.

380-Berry's and RMR.
9x19-Precision Delta and RMR.
357 Mag.-Zero
40 S&W-Sierra
45 Auto-Berry's and Hornady
223- Hornady and Nosler
300 Blk-MBC

Thank God we still have these freedoms!

Strong majority of the bullets I shoot are Hornady, with some Bergers and Sierra mixed in.

For a brand, it is Lee. Well that is who made most of my molds. A strong second is my own home crafted NLG molds. About half are tumble lube (38 Sp power level or less) the rest get shake & bake powder coat.

For 223, cast did not work out. I am still working through a huge batch of cheap 45 gr frangibles (the local indoor range mandated frangible ammo for 223/5.56).
