10mm resurgence

As I just heard on a YouTube video
It seems 10mm has begun to fill the void of the 40S&W & 45ACP

Id really like to see a subcompact stagger stacked pistol.. specifically for concealed carry

Maybe in a Shield platform
was thinking the same thing! Shield Plus 10mm or LC10 Max or a J-frame 10mm!

I'm a 10mm and big bore handgun enthusiast, but cringe when I consider the 10mm in a concealed carry platform!
The worst handgun beating I've ever experienced was full house loads of .357 Mag in a 3" J-frame. I didn't even finish the five rounds in the cylinder, and bled during the remaining range session.

So far this is the most concealable 10mm I can shoot well … On my 29 the slide was just to thick on the compact frame … I purchased a 30S to replace my 30 for that reason …

The XDME 10mm Compact is one of my favorite handguns … but a single stack version of this pistol
would just about be perfect for IWB or a thinner option for OWB carry

If I bought a small 10mm for conceal carry I would feel compelled to load it with lower power ammo to reduce recoil and at that point I would just get a .40, which would be even smaller of a pistol.

I’m all for 10mm. Love it. But it has its place. Small guns and self defense is not the place. Small guns bite on both ends and when you put a powerhouse cartridge in it then your begging for a serious beating. No thanks. In self defense your looking at a situation begging for overpenetration. Not needed. Maybe defensive carry in Big Bear areas, and/or moose areas, but otherwise pretty much universally overpowered. Keep it in full sized guns for me please.

2 years ago I had 0 10mm's. My 6th one (P220 Match Elite) should be delivered to FFL tomorrow.

About 6-7ish years ago, I consolidated calibers down to 9mm. I picked a helluva time with the virus to get into another caliber.

Have built up quite an inventory or full power loads, too bad I don't have the room and time to reload. Magtech seems pretty close to full power for range ammo when I can't find the Sig.
Underwood almost always has something in stock.

good point! 10mm 200gn HP would be a one shot man stopper!

Personally.. I look as the 10mm as SD cartridge for two legged predators first … I will carry my Glock 20
when checking the fence line or checking the springs….
But Sig V -Crown and Underwood 180gr Gold dot is a fine SD cartridge… increased velocity doesn’t equal over penetration with the right bullets …
The 357 Mag is known as a fierce fight stopper
as the 10mm
I know several people locally that carry a 10mm on a regular basis ..
I remember when Ruger produced the PT 845 45acp
compact polymer pistol .. then the Taurus PT145
then the XDS45 …then tbe Shield ..at one time no one would have thought of such small polymer 45acp
After the XDME Compact 10mm .. I see smaller more concealable 10mm pistols …. being the 10mm is leap frogging the 40 and 45 …
I don’t see really small 10mm … but I do see thinner .. maybe 3.5 inch barrels …

Been tempted on the 10mm, but so far, the only pistols that strike my fancy are the SIG P-220, P-320 and S&W M&P. For sure, it's gonna be a full-sized pistola.

I'm sure it'll happen (I spend a fair bit of time in big bear and cougar country), but I want to make sure I get the one that really trips my trigger...

I have S&W Model 610 revolver. Great gun but I'm not sure all the 10mm hype is valid. The 610 shoots like any of my S&W N frame revolvers and the power/recoil is very manageable.

I do love the moon clip loading for my Model 610. Beats the H*** out of speed loaders.

But, bottom line, I'd rather shoot a 45 Colt or 44 Special from the large frame revolvers I have.

I do not have a 10mm semi-auto--yet. Maybe someday but it will be a 1911 variant.

Shield slide is too thin. 10mm is not interchangeable with 45ACP. Why do you think Glock introduced a G30S and G41 that have thinner slides to be used with 45ACP? The thick slides were engineered for 10mm.

There’s a reason why you never saw a G29S

Interesting turn there with all of the less recoil is better crowd in todays market. 10mm in a compact is just a waste and not many can control it. Ever shot a full house .357 mag load in a 2 inch revolver? Sig Xten or M&P yes...

Grip frame is the same .. The heavy slide is for momentum to cycle the higher pressure..10mm
But RSA can counter that .. my XDME has a more narrow slide , but it taller .. probably similar weight
As mentioned in a earlier post a XDME C with a single stack or staggered mag design..

10mm has replaced 45acp as my go to for defense outdoors. There's a lovely range of loadings that can be used to avoid overpenetration on a small SD gun. Since I load my own ammo I can tailor make it to shoot well in my guns, and have enough speed to serve it's purpouse. You don't need 1250 fps 180 gr loads to stop a man. 40 S&W levels are fine IMO.

But I load them up hot for my woods guns and my carbine, as the need to reach out further may be a little greatter in those scenarios as I see it.

Either way, I primarily shoot 9mm now for cost, 10mm for serious business, and only have one 45 acp and one 38 Super left.

The reality is I could drop all other cartridges and my life would be just fine with 9 and 10mm.

The XDME in 3.8 is a big want for me as I have the 4.5 and really like it but would like the smaller size as well.

Non in a big hurry. Gonna wait for the next SA “Gear Up” event…worth it for the extra mags…

It is a amazing pistol…actually less felt recoil than my 20 … which honestly.. has been tucked deep in my safe since the XD purchase …
