Second Walker

Well, my second Walker arrived today. I bought it from Jackrabbit on here and believe I got an oustanding deal. I only took one bad picture as the banshee winds are blowing in the Tularosa Basin and couldn't go shoot. It does look great and handles like a very fine machine. View attachment 1148399
The winds are what ya get for livin' in the Tularosa Basin....... The canyon winds are what I get for living in NE ABQ............. ;)

I have an extensive collection of black powder guns but I never had a desire for a Walker. It's too big and heavy a gun for an ordinary human. It's the pistol equivalent of the 1849 Ames Rifleman's Knife. These are weapons for Sasquatch or the Abominable Snowman.

A Paterson, I might consider, if I can get over the mechanical complexity.

Hey Alex, lots of folks think the Walker is way too big, it's all what you get used to. Believe me, you don't want a Paterson! That design was not around long for a reason. It's fine if you want something to look at but as a shooter its not if its gonna break but when. I'll take a Walker over a Paterson any day or time!

I've used a pair of Dragoons several times at a Cowboy Shoot with no real issues. I just made a pair of holsters for my Walkers so sometime this season they will make it to a Match. Agree with Jackrabbit that you could get used to it, especially for a one day Match. My experience with the Dragoons showed me a wide, tight gunbelt worn higher on the waist made things manageable.
