What would be your picks of only 3 rifles to own for everything, hunting and self defense?

AR10, AR15, AR22

Rossi R92 in 357 with 16” barrel SS

AR 15 in 223 / 5.56 with 24” barrel

Tikka in 7mm Rem Mag with 26” barrel

16” 50, GAU 8, Ma Deuce….

And any help paying for ammo…

I'm not sure I can narrow it down to three, but since those are the rules I'll try.

- Ruger MIni-30, which I have, and have had since I bought it new in 1989

- Ruger 10/22, which I've had for about as many years as the Mini-30

- A good bolt gun in .308, which I don't have, but I'm looking

I have a great bolt gun in 7.62x39... a 22" barrel CZ 527 American that can really reach out there beyond most peoples' expectations of the caliber. But I think I still need something in .308

And I really love my Rossi 92 in 357 Mag

I could do fine with that. But make my AR10 a Ruger SFAR

I could also swap the .22 for a 10-22

Henry 22lr lever action (don't matter which version) for small game and pest control.
Arsenal Sam7 AK (7.62x39) for medium game and self/home defense).
Windham Weaponry AR10 with a 20'' barrel in .308for shtf and Large game.

TC Renegade 54 caliber front stuffer for pure fun and other hunting duties as needed. Powder and caps can be made at home, potential exists to shoot long after normal ammo is gone. It's also a lot of fun.

Ruger 10/22 for squirrels an such....

My Mauser 338-06. It can handle everything in North America

Poly tec AK 47........ many mag options to chose from, bananas to drums

I thought I knew until until @armoredman chose a BP rifle. He makes a good point about shooting long after commercial ammo is unavailable. My custom flinter is may favorite rifle.....so...

I'm not sure I could cover the broad spectrum of hunting and defense with just 3. Is the hunting local or world wide. Small, medium or dangerous game? For survival or for sport? Defense --- are we defending your home against "Bart the Burglar" or the Chinese Army in a Red Dawn scenario?

A 22 LR for small game
A 204, 223, 22-250, class for Varmint hunting
A 308, ect for medium game
A large caliber stopping rifle for dangerous game
A semi-auto in 223 or 308 for defense

Possible some of these could serve a dual purpose. If we were defending against a foreign army I would want what our army or the invading army uses.

As with all threads of this type, my answer could be much different depending on the circumstances that leads me to only have three rifles.

I can do most of your criteria with just my Ruger American Ranch rifle in. 350 Legend and a bag full of 20 round magazines.
