Does lyman 4th edition cover 45 colt, 454, and 460 that are 230 and 340 grains and above?

I would like to push the 340s to about 1100 or 1200 ft per second.

I would like to push the 230s to 2000fps

Both are plain base no gas checks.
The 230 is a round flat nose
The 340 is a wide meplat keith.

45 Colt goes to 300gr. 230 gr goes to about 1000 fps.

454 Casull starts at 255gr. 1650 fps is about max. The heavier bullets go slower.

460 data only goes to 325gr. The data shows about 800~1000 fps with Trail Boss powder. Other powders go a lot faster, and may be able to be downloaded.

You MAY achieve your goals if you go off the reservation, or you MAY have a KABOOM. It's your choice.

If it were me, I would load a ladder test starting at min or just above.

I load 480 Ruger and let my gun and my wrists tell me what works, as well as holes on the target. Faster/hotter isn't always better. I have a few loads at or near max, but most of my loads are mid-range or below.

What are the ranges of cast lead grainage for45 colt 460 and 454?

Can we get some pictures of load data from lyman 4th edition for the 454 casull and 460 smith?

You should really buy both editions. Then you will always have data at your finger tips. I use my 3rd more than i do my 4th.
the manufacturer says there's nothing above 325 grains. Why would I buy books that have no information on what I need? if you see that information in the book that shows 340 grain bullets I sure like to see it so I'm not wasting my money. I don't just buy things just to buy things like many other people that have nothing better to do with their money. And on top of that 454 and 460 are not in the third edition. Why are you even bringing that up?

I am on topic. If and when you expand into other calibers. You will find them handy. As they say you can lead a horse to water. But can't make it drink. Good luck on your quest.
Yes. I just had the lyman 4th on order then cancelled because manufacture says nothing above 325. Now I read someone in the forums saying there are loads for casts above 325. With mixed info, I dont care to waste money on something that does not have the info I need. I read the 3rd edition and it stops at 45 colt. So until someone has proof of lyman 4th with 340 grain keith cast, for 460 and 454 casull I will not get it. Maybe I should have said this instead of being so short. I am sorry about that. Please forgive me?

Data for heavier bullets "usually" use less powder than lighter bullets. So you should be able to use 360gr data for your 340gr bullets, just start low and work up your loads. That's what I would do.

I'll look in a few of my other books and see what I can come up with for you.

The 4th Edition is still in print. You’re asking people to violate copyright rules. If you check the forum rules, that’s a huge nogo.

I deleted them in my post. The post quoting them will not work then. It was copyright infringement. Don't be cheap. Just get your self the Lee book. Im done here on this post from now out.
